Correct me if I am wrong but he only played one AFL game?

Sorry Roger but I am not excited.

I know I am speaking for OD as well but we may get excited if he can regularly perform on field at AFL level.

Actions speak louder then words.

I would hate to go through life always requiring proof before I believed. I like to use my own eyes and cognitive powers to form conclusions. These conclusions are based on experience, past history, and current facts. Everyone gets it wrong from time to time, and I'm no better judge than others, but there's usually enough evidence to make sound conclusions that just as often become fruition.

I don't automatically tick every player's chances, but one at least starts to recognise the percentages of probabilities.

I'm not sure how you get through the long off-season without being able to get excited about anything until it's proven.

Did you see him play any WAFL games last season Demon Frog. Saw him 5 times last season and must say very impressed to get him. Really stood out in a side bereft of talent. On what I saw he was best WAFL midfielder last season.

I liked this from the article (above) "He's spent the last two years training in Ross Lyon's system and is now under Paul Roos. Seriously, could this kid have had a better midfield education? Michie knows how to go hunting for the ball. In his debut against Geelong, he also ranked second among Fremantle players for pressure applied per minute. "

Agree with my comments or don't as is you right.

But it appears from your comment that you are only ten years old so my the Disney Blog would be a better place for you.

Good grief! (Charlie Brown!)

Looks a good prospect to me although I haven't slotted him for a top 10 finish in the Brownlow

Oh what's the point

I like that Viv was knocking on the midfield door of one of the grand final teams.

Might imply to some that he'd have a spot in a team that finished 16 spots lower on the ladder...

... or it might not.

I'm with you Rog. I'm excited about Michie's potential and will be until I see a reason not to be. There is a decent chance he can make an immediate contribution towards alleviating our midfield woes.

He and Thomas will be the first two inclusions in my fantasy side, which I suspect will be the case for many others.

I did not see him play as he played for Peel and I am a West Perth Supporter but I do live close to Peel home ground.

If I remember correctly Peel finished last on the ladder in 2013, so I guess any reasonable player would stand out in that side. Mind you being a host club in 2014 they should play off in the Grand Final in 2014.

There is a large difference between the WAFL Standard of play and that of the AFL. The MFC has had so many good VFL standard players over the past 7 years but lacked AFL standard ones.

I like every MFC Support want Michie to be successful, but I want to see what he can do on the field first before I get excited.

Next thing people will start talking about him being Captain LOL

Great to know mate that you rate him.

I will see how he goes in 2014 and beyond before I do though. After all he just played one AFL game.

Oh well who need a football player to actual perform on field before he made a star!

He looks a step up in class, skill and agility to Magner & Couch, injury free and he's a good get.

Because he was injured for much of that period of time.

I have just been burnt too often by"the great new recruit" syndrome at the MFC.

Negative or not RB now I wait till I see them in action at AFL level before that they are just a VFL level player with hope.

Such a naive question OD.

Seriously, have a think.

Really?

He asked a question for a reason.

Now he has the answer.

A perfectly reasonable thing to do.

Excuse me for being Naïve.

RB has told me he has a lot of injury problems.

That just indicates to me he is a 50/50 chance.

We have taken the risk on similar players in recent times for zero success.

I will wait and see.

Yes, he asked a question for a reason. And perhaps you have a different idea of what the reason was..

To me it sounded like OD is questioning Viv's value as a player as he'd only played one game Freo in 3 years. And if he is, he should have a dig around for some info on the guy as he is a Melbourne player now.

Injury would be the number one reason.

Number two is the quality and depth of Freo's settled and experienced midfield.

The third would be Ross Lyon's strong development program for young kids coming through, especially ones who have had barely one pre-season to their name.

The fact that he's played one AFL game means very little to me. It's about the environment he's been in for the past three years and the tutelage he's received. He wanted to come home and we snagged him. Freo weren't happy.

He is already far more valuable to our side than a lot of our mids who have little ability and have been brought up in a basket-case of an environment under terrible management and next to no leaders.

We should be overjoyed that we, the MFC have snagged this youngster.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
