Following the game, one of the GWS fitness guys said that Scully was running with Nathan Jones and Toumpas was demanding the ball. Jones completely ignored him and then gave Toumpas a spray.

Following this, Scully got in Toumpas' ear and told him (words to the effect), 'you've got to leave this bucket shop. There's no on field leadership at the place. They'll ruin your career etc'.

I think Toumpas then told Scully to get stuffed.

Bottom line is that Scully has absolutely no guilt towards or empathy for this club at all. He is essentially a sociopath.

If this is true RG, I have a new respect for Jimmy.

Yes my lips curl. He looked Jimma in the eyes and said he wasn't going.

Yeah he is a textbook sociopath Scully, I can't stand the little [censored].

And what makes it worse, is no-one would've begrudged him for taking the coin on offer.

But.. The way he went about the whole thing was just disgraceful.

I was hoping I bumped into him, I was lucky enough to bump into Woewodin after he departed:)

Woey didn't leave, he was moved on.

Still leaves me shattered even after all these years Woey leaving but makes me love him even more that he doesn't hold grudges against the MFC only Daniher. As for Scully I truly do not care he will never win a Brownlow or tear a game apart so at best he is a bit part player who can play a role at GWS and we got more than enough compensation for him.

He is still at a basket case just a slightly different one

Young players showing form, big money from the AFL, a superstar in the making in Cameron and they may land a massive free agent. Meanwhile in Melbourne we have Cam Pederson, no cash at the moment, no faith, president, coach or ability to develop players. Our time will come but I know what I would take at the moment.

When 150 years old you reach, look as good you will not.

What actually irks me is that no-one at our footy club seems to have the balls to be a villain anymore. Seriously, i may belong in a different era (although not much - retired from footy 4 hears ago aged 35), but why doesn't anyone want to cop the 4 week ban for knocking the little pr1ck into tomorrow. Just a good old fashioned shirt front would do it. No need for Barry Hall type king hits. if he left Hawthorn or Essendon in the same manner he'd be lucky to leave any return game with intact ribs. Our club is soft at present, where are the hard bodied, hard at it types that win footy games in the trenches - reckon our recruiting strategy would have been a lot different if I was involved

Well said... The MFC don't like hard bodied, hard at it types... We've been going through a phase of collecting stick thin athletes, what for, who knows?

Maybe oneday they will announce that they've just been taking the p*ss for the past decade.

You guys are talking about a game that no longer exists...

We are talking about Joel Selwood, Luke Parker, Rory Sloane, Dustin Martin, Callan Ward, Ollie Wines, those types of players.

There will always be room in the game for these players.

The MFC probably decided that game no longer exists when they drafted Morton, Cook, Gysberts, etc.

But, they forgot to take into account that the aim of the game is to score goals and to do so - you actually have to get the ball.

Todd Viney appears to be on the right track, Terlich and Jones were great pick ups and good on him, he has done an amazing job.

Not sure how it's possible to even put Woey in the same sentence, breath, life, world, existence with the no 1 p_ick, Woey's a Demon great and a great Demon, then there's the p_ick.

Viney also drafted Toumpas over Wines. That was the correct decision. You are contradicting yourself here though, 316.

No you're not, you're talking about players being villains.

You type so many words, yet say so little.

I am of the belief that was Neeld's doing.

Viney selected Terlich and Jones IMO.

Hopefully Todd will clear this up in time.

Big bodied players who go in and get the ball.

If Scully gets in the road, run through him.

We wouldn't even have a player able to run through Tom Scully, which is sad.

I can not make it anymore clearer what I believe to be our downfall - we draft the thin athletic types instead of the well built footballers.

Machiavelli, you can hold onto hope that we have done the right thing, but I don't think we have.

I don't think we should've overlooked Sloane in favor of the flashy Benell... Overlook Parker/Darling in favor of a stick thin athlete like Cook.

The MFC continues to draft these types, I understand you like these types Machiavelli, I personally don't, it's a matter of opinion and whilst I don't agree with yours - I respect it.

josh kelly for mine is this years tom scully, hard runner with great skills, maybe too skinny for what we need?

I like these types?

You like to talk crap & put words in the mouths of others.

Well you clearly don't like the big bodied midfielders who actually have a dip, or you wouldn't be still whinging.

Let me guess, you are still attached to Morton, Cook and Gysberts? It's ok bud, don't panic, we'll probably get more athletic insects in.

Posted

316 your point gets hidden behind your recall bias. Sloane was a late pick and isn't exactly a star, he's a strange example.

Freo are one of the hardest toughest teams going around and there 3 best mids in Fyfe, Mundy and Barlow were all skinny kids at one stage. Although they are tall for mids.

Chad Wingard was a skinny kid who put on a clinic and won a show down today. Michael Walters did it for Freo last night.

The Predergast drafting era was a disaster because he focused on attractive elements of a player rather than the collective worth.

But Toumpas v Wines is different. It's simply 2 guys with different skill sets at different stages of development. But very importantly Toumpaa is a footballer.

The clubs development of players has been atrocious, at least the recruiters changed last year and the coaches will change now

yeah I worry about how big an advantage his endurance provides him. But I love his class and he doesn't seem afraid to mix it inside. I think he's skills are better than Scully's.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
