I think Roos would be good for culture but does his and Lyons game plan suit our list?

TBH I would prefer Eade, Choco or Craig.

These 3 still have a burning desire to get to (or back to) the pinnacle.

Eade was the last on the list of 3 for me originally, but after reading the link below I actually think he would be the perfect fit for us list wise and in most aspects of the coaching role.

Fark Roos !! He is playing a game and I cannot ever see his heart being in the Melbourne Football Club... MOVE ON please or Miss out... again.!! Choco or Craig and if Craig has been told by PJ he would not be in the mix .. (when handed the temp. position) then Choco is the logical choice,,, I like the man's passion... I feel Roos may want too much for Roos and not enough for the MFC.. (my opinion on observations made when he has been asked the question)...

the rules i think are different THIS year....as a lesson from last year.

Not advocating it .. but don't we get into more trouble when we don't REALLY break the rules ?? Tanking fine ?? "Clayton's' offence ? we have to be ruthless... Bite the bullet.. How are Essendon doing over the Peptides ? How many times have we decided to stand back and "do the right thing" only to be walked over later ? Scully (a small example ) Was that all above board ?

If you take a step back and think about it, we really are spoilt for choices;

I would have loved Roos, but stuff him if he wants to play games.

Eade and Choco - I originally thought Choco but after reading the above linked article about Eade, I'm starting to shift.

Craig - going well. But given last 1.5 years with Neeld think the club re sponsors and members need a fresh start.

Oh the choices....good luck panel, all 3 of them are A grade IMO.

Not sure when Freo interviewed Ross Lyon last year ?? MUST have been before season's end as he knew before the Saints last roster game... Just saying..

It was the year before.

You're assuming that he'll keep his 2010 gameplan. Highly unlikely. Good coaches develop and try to stay ahead of the eightball. That's partially been our problem with the last two coaches. Outdated game plans. If Roos is to coach us, he wouldn't implement an outdated plan.

mate roo "s would take all the basic errors out of players and improve us 35%

forget about game plans, just fixing the basics would make us very watchable

notice I gave the teachers something to write about with his name

The basic errors come down to confidence and experience. If we're not experienced, it's hard for anyone to rectify those errors. I do concur with what you proffer though, jazza.

Rocket is the only experienced coach who was quoted that he still has fire in the belly.

I think he is the only one on the list who will put his heart onto it because he still wants to win a flag. Let's hope for him and ourselves that third time's a charm for Rocket.

Always said Roos wouldnt coach us. Mark Williams for me. He can bring Dustin Martin with him too.

Certainly is a convincing read.

I would still like to see craig stay on in some capacity if melbourne ran with eade or choco.

Was just listening to SEN and Craig Hutchison and he was talking about the Coaching position and he spoke about Leigh Tudor and what he has done with the Cats the Saints and now Sydney very impressive resume could be worth a chat to.

The parameters are set. Tier 1, experienced and mature AFL coach with September credentials

Still prefer Ratten to Eade.

He also said best available coach not just an experienced one, must admit I think Hutchy is a [censored] but he did make sense on Tudor, but I would still look at Williams before Eade as he left the Doggies in bad shape as we can see now.

Article in today's West Australian suggesting Worsfold needs to state his intentions if he hasn't already and the WCE need to contact Roos, if they haven't already.

IMO McQueen this has been Roos primary objective all along.

I would not be surprised if Worsfold decides to stay all of a sudden he will have conversion to the Dees.

...and Williams really left Port in good shape.

I guess Craig did leave Adelaide in good shape so he should be the front runner with this logic.

One thing for certain is that it will be a senior coach and not a current assistant. Also any of the current assistants looking to step up to a senior job in the now to distant future would see Melbourne as a bad career move and that's fair enough. We will need to pick up some just out of the game just starting their apprenticeship or career assistants.

It'll be another quality candidate. Played in two flags and coached one and a runner-up.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
