Dylan Shiels

Pick 2

Forgot the name of the GWS youngster I'm impressed with but him as well

Shiel would be fantastic, i think we will get some very good offers for Jack watts if we decide we should move him on,

I find it hard to see where he fits into our next premiership side, dylan shiel i don't have the same problem with.

Went to school with Shiel, he's about as arrogant as they come, but a bloody good footballer though.

Personally I think we'd have next to 0% chance signing him, as i believe he is just about the Giants' highest priority

Yeah sadly i agree with you, but they have plenty of good young mids, Anthony miles is one i used to play football against and he seems to have fallen out of favour with them abit, i wonder if he would be worth a try, probably wouldn't cost a heap to get him

Anthony Miles is a good one, I was thinking that the other day. He seems to get pushed out due to the number of high quality mids GWS has and from what I've seen is a pretty decent player may be interested in getting more game time ala Josh Kennedy at the Hawks.

He was very highly rated as a junior, would get a decent run with us and wouldn't cost a huge amount to lure down, he is from Albury wodonga in north east victoria so melbourne would be closer to home than sydney.

I would be offering Matthew Stokes a big contract, the guys averaging 26 disposals per game, hes 28 and wont turn 30 until the 2015 preseason begins so he has a lot of footy left

Doubt he would leave Geelong but we could offer them a lot more then they could

Ball magnets with great skills a lot of Grand Final experience dont grow on trees

I have made bold the players i think we should consider, the older ones could come in and play the sorta roles we recruited byrnes and co for like Hayes and Chapman, but both from great clubs would help with the culture shift.

I know Cooney had knee issues over the previous 2 seasons and went to Germany for some specialised blood and growth cell treatment to assist his knee and from his performances this year, I'd say its having some form of positive influence.

So, is it worthwhile investigating getting Cooney into our midfield, a former Brownlow medalist and a player who is having a very consistent season, along with some standout performances.

My initial feeling is, if he were considering leaving, he'd be looking at heading to a side capable of winning a flag but, would he be worth a nice up front deal while we've got room to move?

Absolutely not. His knee has a degenerative condition so whatever weird stuff he had done in Europe was only to slow his demise.

He is a pale reflection of his best and he will never be again what he once was, which is a tragedy for him and the Dogs, but it does not have to become our tragedy too, thanks very much.

You are just looking for someone to bite with that remark.

Cooney will go to a team with a chance of winning if he leaves at all.

The guys on a front loaded contract for the first 2 seasons, thats worth about 2 million, he had 6 injury riddled seasons at Brisbane, your a smart guy do the Math,i think its a fair call , the guys a bust and a waist of 3 million.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
