haha, I was talking about the list & club.

he is a part of the change, to turn over the list, as is Mr Byrnes.

even if they aren't stars they will be depth once we get better, in the best 15 players bracket. as we develop the upper level of our list with no pretenders these depth guys will play better.

its hard to play well as a battler, when many of the top players are Krarpp.

I agree. Just dispute that Pedersen is a culture changer. Let's hope he can improve though.

While staying on topic i agree with the people that say we shouldnt deal pick 20 for Vince. Id rather it towards Lyons.

Hoping the Ox is right about Shiels..

Another wasted post, why do you even bother......what a tool the laughing stock of this site

Mate of mine at the gym said he heard on the radio a three way deal which included Melbourne's pick 2 to Port Adelaide in exchange for Hamish Hartlett and pick 13? Said he heard it on the radio on one of the news stations reporting it. Not sure if he misheard or not but can't find any information regarding this, did anyone happen to catch or hear about this?

Haven't heard anything....

It's a little hard to believe it given Hartlett is a SA boy, and also it's an exchange fraught with too much danger from Melbourne's point of view given Hartlett's dodgy injury history.

Make it Ollie Wines and pick 13 for pick 2 and you've got a deal

Could be irrelevant but Jarred Polec just started dating a girl i know who lives in Melbourne, and she is hot enough for him to consider relocating his whole family to Melbourne

The Dees should swoop in and offer pick 20 to Brisbane and score the hottest WAG in the AFL

I'm a big Wines fan, but Wines is so overrated on this forum is it's ridiculous. Hartlett is a much better player than Wines and only a few years older. If you go back and watch the debacle that is Rd 1, you will see what a class player Hartlett is, he tore us to shreds!

Yeah, it's all Pedersen's fault that he got taken by the club and just may not have been good enough to make it at AFL level... but given time and the right coaching he might be able to make it yet. If you want a good example of how a very average player can blossom under Roos, look no further than LRT at the Swans.

And I agree with you whole heartedly... we SHOULD all make it personal and start bagging him for his poor physique and his poor play... I mean to say, we should be sending the link to these shots off to Jenny Craig so she can come to his rescue.

LRT had commitment and worked hard for his team, a whole different kind of player.

If we were offered Hamish Hartlett and Pick 13 for Pick 2 we would jump at it. Imagine a midfield with Hartlett, Vince, Michie , Cross and maybe Bontempelli or Freeman. That would be an awesome set of additions to our present players and would propel us up the ladder quite a bit.

I agree with you to an extent...the only worry for me is that Hartlett couldn't string together more than 16 games a season until this year. Also have concerns that Port might have been using an alternative type of Orange Juice this year, which in turn hides players real proneness to injury....But that's just my opinion

I agree. Just dispute that Pedersen is a culture changer. Let's hope he can improve though.

sorry thats not what I'm saying at all. he would benefit from a better culture.

------------------------------

the bearers of the poor culture, are those who grew from within it. infected by it. to change the culture its easier to ship out many.

crack it like an egg, then work with the ones who are more highly motivated to succeed & willing to open the mind & do the real hard work to change themselves personally. ones who can see their faults & willing to work on them. this is a stumbling block to many who will not acknowledge their flaws. some are too hard headed to change or even listen.

IMO we are in a good position IMO after Neeld broke it open.

Roos is the perfect IMO to take charge with the cracked culture to reform it & build it, guide it & take us all forward.

I'm actually surprised the Hartlett rumour hasn't come earlier I really rate him and I think he would be a perfect fit for us but no way would he leave port now after the year they had. They are on the up and he would be stupid to jump ship now

Haha thanks mate

Not 100 % sure mate to be honest. Haven't heard much on him apparently we are looking at him but waiting to see who else we can get before we go ahead. From what I heard Hawthorn and StKilda were looking at him. Mitch Thorp from all reports will definitely be re drafted and I think St Kilda/Freo are probably favourites for him.

Bit of chatter about that Eagles will do the deal with Collingwood for pick 10 & 27, with 6 going the other way. Dom Sheed tipped to be selected by Eagles at 10, with 27 going to Brissy for Yeo.

Not sure if Collingwood have their eyes set on a particular player at 6 or whether it's going to form part of a bigger deal with GWS. Pick 1 perhaps? Might explain why they're pushing hard for pick 2...

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
