This kid should not be playing afl footy.

He should be at Casey working on his game. Same with Kent.

Its a shame our list is so bad that we have no one to play ahead of these kids.

Bit harsh to lump Kent in with Toumpas, at least Kent has a dip.

was disappointing

But will not affect his development at all

He was clearly gutted when subbed off. We forget he is a baby playing in the worst midfield in AFL-VFL history.

You can see how badly he wants it. Cut him some slack!

Did he have an illness before the game?

Oh no!!!!

A kid in his first year has a bad game!!!

Quick, lets all pot him.

Flogs

but he's wearing Jimmy Hird's number? Why isn't he as good as him right now???

It was a shocker. I won't make any excuses, that was a disaster by any measure, young or not. That said, I agree that this was clearly an outlier. Even if he does turn out disappointing, he'll never be as poor as he was tonight. I won't judge ANY player on his absolute worst game, especially a 19 year old finding his way. That's just not a fair way to judge.

He'll play for Casey next week, and he won't ever be that poor again. He's an emotional guy and was clearly gutted. We move on.

Fitzpatrick was terrible last week, but great this week.
Toumpas was great last week but terrible this week.

Demonland's Official Conclusion: Fitzpatrick is great but Toumpas sucks.

Brereton didn't need to pick apart every move he made. Some of which were reasonable.

How about we pick apart a GWS youngster for an entire game one week Derm you [censored].

In fact not a youngster lets pick Phil Davis who is a millionaire who spuds up everything and is meant to be a leader.

Well, it is a small picture, short term memory kind of place.

exactly

and the [censored] population around here tends to borrow most of their comments from what they hear on the telly. The amount of times I have read somebody parrot a response as if it was their own is ridiculous.

it's the main reason for Naitanui-overrated-itis for example

Last interview said he was struggling to get his body right each week. He is young and needs a rest. Week off then back to Casey for a couple.

There doesn't seem to be much discussion about the possibility of him having an illness, or simply not adapting to the conditions. There was more to it than just a bad game. He wasn't right tonight. He'll be fine. He proved his wares against the best in the league last week.

id be keen for him to play again in 2 weeks against GWS.

Also the supposed superstar Wines only had 8 touches today.

These young guys are always up and down

Also the supposed superstar Wines only had 8 touches today.

That is surprisingly comforting to know.

He has been battling knee problems the last couple of weeks. Fact.

Also the supposed superstar Wines only had 8 touches today.

It's Round 17 and he's in his first year of AFL. Not exactly surprising that he's dipping. It's still one of the best first seasons I've seen. Unfortunate for him that he's paying in the same year as the J bomb whose basically what you'd get if you genetically engineered the perfect AFL player.

Gotta disagree with that.

Did you want to elaborate?

His impact on games, certainly in the first half of the season, has been phenomenal for a first year player. Happy for you to throw up some names for comparison.

Kade Simpson's stats in his first three games for Carlton 0 kicks 0 handballs 0 marks.

Toump had a shocker and he knows it. He was also very, very good the week before. I think some people on here need to stop jumping at their own shadows.

Brereton didn't need to pick apart every move he made. Some of which were reasonable.

I actually liked listening to it to be honest. Not only did he pick apart the mistakes he gave advise how to rectify it. That's colour commentary and A HELL OF A LOT BETTER that most of them on tv.

Just because it was a Melbourne player people get their backs up. I don't get it.

Even my 8 year old son could understand when we watched the replay this morning

I'm not bagging out either player. I just don't think they are ready for Afl yet.

Dermie took it upon himself to personally coach Watts through the game which became very tiring. The more Derm tries to seem intelligent, the stupider he looks.

Also-Grimes wasn't good last night-he was average, and Rich beat him.

Hanley carved us up as did Rockliffe.

We are falling down in the Ruck but must keep big Max up there while he learns.

Toumpas had a bad day and can be forgiven .

Byrnes is slowing up our list development and is not half as good as Rodan.

Jetta might get Toumpas' spot next week, and a last chance to prove he can play.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
