maybe hes making more than tjhat in the media, doubt it though

If he is hh then why would he want to coach?

All that stress and having to deal with all the crap that comes with it.

I think he would be on considerably less than that but that's only my opinion

Not much talk about lethal?

Only 61 and fresh. Best resume in the business. Very strange that he is not really being considered by most.

Demons should 'headhunt' coach: Matthews

By Mitch Cleary7:42am AEST Wednesday, June

Matthews laughed off suggestions he would pursue the job and enter a 21st season as an AFL/VFL coach.

"No one's asked me and I'm not applying," he said.

"I've had my time as coach and I'm happy to live the rest of my life without the coaching cap on."

Sounds pretty definitive that he is not keen but until u ask him u never say never I suppose.

Whomever we get...they wont be wet behind the ears. Man management ought to be a level above.

Ive really got no qualms with splashing the cash at the right person. Its been proved you can have talent but without the right guidance it comes to naught.. How much we spend on players is irrelevant if you cant extract the player from the potential .

With a good wage u say demon fark me if I had a $1.00M+ I would say its a very good wage.

With Roos he has bagged our culture and what we stand for, now maybe with PJ coming in and sorting the club out he may see that we are serious about becoming successful he may look at us a little more different and that might make it a challenge for him, money might not be the be all and end all.

If Roos takes the gig then money will be part of it but the CHALLENGE I would think would be a major factor for him.

We would definitely be a challenge that's for sure.

Gee, I reckon he's coming....

His body language, the ambiguity of his answers and the shifting tone. (talking about OTC)

But, I'm no expert! Hell! I thought Neeld would stay.

i think we can forget Lethal, the guy is 61 or 62 and from all reports he is very happy living up in Qld with his grandkids around him

why do people still live in this fairy tale land. MONEY is the king of all motivators. You are not allowed be honest about it public so Chris Judd doesn't come to Melbourne 'because of the facilities' and Ablett goes to GC 'for a new challenge'. It is all complete horsesh1t and they will all step over their own mothers for the coin, Roos too

You're telling us something about the way you view the world. Doesn't mean it's the same for all of us.

Off topic but that article just reminded me how good Rodney Eade's record is!

314 games with a 55% winning record at Swans and Bulldogs - both clubs struggling when he took over.

Pretty damn impressive.

I think, your close to it demon3165,,,, & if so, I think someone like that would like the challenge,,, but Only IF the Club, & the supporters were wanting to embrace change, from the turnstiles up to the level 3...

IMO he would be more motivated at the prospect of forming a community, & a family out of the dessication that is the MFC.

Get him, then Open the bottle.

The way it's playing out we will have 2 choices, Willo or Eade, it will be interesting who they pick, one thinks before he speaks and the other has left his last 2 clubs on bad terms, it would be intriguing to now why Williams left GWS, I wouldn't think it would be a industry secret, I reckon we will take the conservative approach and pick Eade.

I think it was to do with the fact that he should have been coach this yr and they signed Sheedy for another season

He's a good tactical coach too something which we need and I am unsure if Williams still has the nous for the modern game. If we can't get Roos I think Eade would be just as good an appointment. Look what h did at the Dogs with the worst KP stocks in the top 8. We have no midfield but our spine is pretty good. Stock up the midfield and I think he could do a fair bit with our list. Is a good "people person" too something we also need and something which I think Roos and Williams have too.

If we got Roos, fantastic. If we got Choco or Eade, still great and if we ended up with Craig, I wouldn't be completely disappointed.

If we took another noob, I'd shoot myself in the foot and hobble away from this club.

i[m with you. This is a good day. Get the big coach signature, those that have a foot out the door turn around, we lure a big player or two, back in the hunt

This is one of the reasons that Roos would be the must get.

He will make the older players want to stay, the youngsters keen as mustard to learn. Imagine how excited Viney, Toumpas and Hogan would be to play under Roos not to mention a Trengrove, Grimes, Watts. Then new draftees wouldnt be wishing against coming to the demons. Then you have sponors who would be climbing aboard to be part of the ressurgence.

It would totally change the mindset of the club.

But i dont think money is it all, Im sure hes set up for life.

I think the club has to sell the romance of it. Turning the oldest club from the duldrems to premiership chance in 4-5 yrs.

That would lock him into legend status and give him satisfaction of saving the Melbourne Football Club.

Hes still young and i reckon his family would back him in while he is not to long out of the game.

Fingers Crossed.

Woosher and Lethal have officially ruled themselves out. Clarkson's manager has ruled him out.

Roos is our preferred option. He is being pursued strongly and it didn't start monday.

Daryl Wakelin a former Choco player pumped him up unbelievably today and said he was fantastic with the players, great for developing the young talent and a fantastic coach to play under.

Choco and Eade seem to be next in line. It will be one of those three I would expect.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
