Gold coast have 2 things we definitely don't have

A good coach.

Great player development.

Draft and OOC concessions

Enlarged salary cap with extra promotional payments

9 other clubs in the same state competing for supporters in a fast growing market

I think the umpiring has been fantastic tonight.

So you thought the decision where the Cats player just kicked it off the ground backwards to the boundary and wasn't penalized ok? As I mentioned earlier, the lights at the Cattery will mean more prime time scrutiny of the umpiring down there.

Oh yeah, and Gary Ablett too.

Add Ablett to our side and suddenly were a whole new team... He brings amazing talent and ability, leadership and just an awe about him... suddenly our players step up because they have a role model. If GC win a flag within the next 8 years... Ablett is to thank, even if he isnt there.

I'm n old defender, I hate the deliberate rule, so yep, glad they did not pay it.

They let the game flow and did not pay soft frees, only paid the ones you should. Enjoyed it.

Father son picks that went through to 4th round picks, government hand outs, stand alone facilities, no Prendegast, sponsors galore.....

But, hey, don't let some history or facts get in the way of an opportunity to Neeld bash.

They're ride to success has been as challenging as shooting fish in a barrel . Here's the greatest player of his generation, hers an entire age group to work with, here's an expanded salary cap, here's some additional picks on top of the litany of picks already provided.

How the hell did 16 clubs of the day unanimously agree to this deal?

It is just not right. The members were disregarded completely.

I don't think they had a choice did they?

Who knows. That is why i ask. It has been reported since the collective meeting that all 16 clubs voted for this wrecking Ball.

Now did they have an M16 looking straight at them when casting such madness??

Would like Don to tell us some truth on this. But Don only emails fluffy spin....i forgot.

How are we expected to compete against that? Well that's the whole point. The object is to have them win a flag in a couple of years and gain an enormous fan base. Meanwhile the MFC rots in hell.

I do love the negative nancies getting on here and saying 'look at Gold Coast, why aren't we like them, look how good McKenna is'.

Do these people remember how pathetic Gold Coast was last year? They were bottom of the ladder last year at this round. Winless. Lost to GWS. People were wondering whether their list was going to make it.

Lo and behold, look at that. The group gets two years under its belt, and in its third, reaches new heights. Melbourne gets 1.5 years and is condemned already.

You also cannot underestimate the effect that having Ablett in your side has. Take him out and all of a sudden Prestia gets tagged, and his game drops, and now they're down two midfielders.

I'm not defending Neeld, but I am having a direct swipe at those who have posted in this thread to the effect of 'McKenna is a great coach' or 'we should be more like the Gold Coast'.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
