Worst umpiring performance of the year

Recommended Posts

WCE always drop when tackled - I think its Hams in particular that always throws his head back which is boarderline diving.

We learn't the hard way last year when WCE had 25+ free kicks at half time against us... at the end of the day if you play against West Coast, particulary at Subiaco - go for the hips.

Luke Shuey is also a cheat playing for high tackles by dropping his head. Have a look over a season at the number of frees he gets. Umps certainly were sucked in by the crowd tonight.

According to Demie in regards to shrugging an arm over the shoulder when being tackled an being awarded a free over the last 5 seasons of AFL; 3 of the top 6 are WCE players (3 Selwoods are in the top 6)

I know it's not the Dees but I have just witnessed one of the more biased umpiring performances of all time. Talk about getting WCE home. Am I that wrong or were there a series of decisions that brought them back into the contest?

Worst umpiring since round 2 last year when WCE led 21-1 in free kicks at half time.

I reckon the Dees were involved in that game.

Ranked #6 for recipient of high contact from shrugging an arm over when being tackled over the past 5 years

The umpires get totally sucked in by the bias crowd. Its like they want to be popular in the stands so they pay frees that are barely there. combined with the eagles technique for cheating a rule that is there For their own safety and you get a lop sided adjudication process! I've been there to witness it first hand on many occasions. It blows

Tonight will be the first time I'd agree with brad scott when he goes bonkers in a post match presser

I love the Scott boys passion for there teams and very envious of it honestly. I hope he goes right off and believe some of the decisions against the roos warrants this.

Watching the game I really didn't care who won (really only watching for supercoach reasons) but DemonWA, you summed it up perfectly here. I guarantee those umpires will be walking off the ground smiling and having a laugh thinking what a great finish that was. They were clearly be sucked in by the atmosphere and wanted to be a part of it.

The mark Black took as well that was called 'touched' was a real shocker as well.

Worst umpiring display since Fitzroy were "murdered" against the Crows in 1991.

In addition to those above what about the down field free to Kennedy after Thomas was knocked down by Shuey?? The dubious advantage call in North's 50 when they clearly stopped as soon as they heard the whistle and wanted to take the shot on goal??

That was the game I was trying to recall. Ta Dr Gonzo. Now that one was criminal.and the 50 meters for that was a joke.

I guess I'm in the minority because overall it wasn't even close to the worst I've seen this year. Certainly a couple of very dubious ones toward the end to both Shuey and Selwood who were up to their usual tricks, but the final tally of 21 to 17 indicates it was fairly even. For the majority of the game they let the 50/50 ones go. By Subiaco standards it was actually quite good.

Wow the Selwoods drive me crazy the way they drop the shoulders ins contest for a free kick. Its borderline cheating

It drives me nuts, they get half their kicks because of a borderline cheating tactic!

if it was any other player or family people would be up in arms about it.

Why isn't dropping the knees to get a high free, or even shrugging the arm, seen as equivalent to ducking the head? To me they are one and the same.

Mark by Nic Nat was a blinder though.....very Leo Barry.....Geez I would love the Nat at the Dees......Hey, maybe we could trade....um Watts?!......

Yeah the mark by NicNat was great and subsequent goal, I didn't think it was a given he would kick it even though he was only 15-20 metres out. But he split the middle.

Yeah, agreed. He does go over the top but I'm not sure this time. North were robbed tonight. TV commentators shite scared to say anything.

Radio commentators on the ABC were not at all constrained! Despite the fact they were all WA identities they paid out on the umpires big time. Obviously shocking decisions.

I reckon WCE's position on the ladder in 2012 was well correlated to the home town umpiring bias. When the microscope went on it and the umps had to pull it back the eagles weren't winning as much anymore. Sounds like it's creepung back in.

Waiting for a Range Rover post on Nik Nat, his favourite AFL player! Still reckon JW will prove superior by the end of their careers. Skill versus athleticism.

Yes he is an absolute freak to watch.

If he played for a victorian side i would go to watch him play.

If only.

Western Australian Bias is continuing alive and very well.

I hate Nought and still wish they were in the Gold Coast, but even i had some sympathy for them last night.

It won't last long don't worry! :)

Why the hell would you want them on the Gold Coast???

they should be the $uns.

If Nought had gone up north as the AFL wanted the draft would not have been so compromised.

Good luck for their survival but they are a reason we cannot climb out of the darkness

I can't agree with that what happened to fitzroy was disgusting (no to mention they actually wanted to merge with North in the first place) a d should not be allowed to happen again. North, Dogs and to a lesser extent Saints are our allies against the big clubs and the interstate clubs. We need to stick with them as a bloc to push our collective interests. If North go to Gold Coast and the Dogs to West Sydney it will be much worse for us make no mistake.

No to mention hoping someone's club is merged, relocated, dies is pretty poor form I wouldn't wish that on our worst enemies and the game would be poorer for losing another traditional club. It would also mean 1 less Vic game for us to go to.

Agree with you on Fitzroy. But North and the Power will always be a problem as they have such a finite small supporter base. That is just urban geography.

The weaker clubs need not be our allies.

The MFC need to get the right people running the joint so we can challenge the bigger clubs.

It can be done. The way Jimmy got the vibe up quickly proved that to me.

The next 12 months is just so important

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
