NO FIRE IN THE BELLY

blease will learn nothing going back and playing in the vfl.

he's exactly the sort of player that we are desperate to develop, and he needs the experience of an elite-level game, not going back.

these decisions just really really frustrate me.

I think they need to give him a good run at it. He went back to Casey and had an OK game and was brought back up. They need some consistency with him but like you I think he would be better having a solid run in the AFL team.

Hehe, nice one Mac. Someone has to be able to say they called it should the miraculous happen.

Personally I am feeling a sense of inevitability about this weekend. Moreso than usual. Not a pleasant feeling.

It's inevitable that we will pull one out of our [censored] and shock the competition at some stage. I reckon this is the game.

Also a good possibility that I'll revisit this post and think what a fool I was.

I hope that they don't end up regretting bringing in Nicholson for Davey (his brother kicked 4.2 for Essendon today)!

Why should he be gifted an AFL game? Part of the bullish*t culture that Neeld is trying to eradicate.

Make him work his butt off, run, sweat, play accountable footy, pick up a man, run in defence and do the disciplined things.

Time for Blease to draw his own line in the sand.

Fmd.

Seen Spencer live 3 times already this season, if you haven't you will see the improvement, he hasn't played well, he has dominated, which he should, love the posters who pot him that haven't. Last week even saw one of his chase downs of a smaller player, nearly broke him in half....asked Jade Rawling about him on the chat...first words "Jake is very competitive", isn't that what some posters are crying out for..support the team

It would be good to see Spencer make a go of it in the firsts. He has a big of mongrel about him that can only help the mids and kids walk a bit taller when he's around.

I'd just like to get in early and say that Carlton have thrashed us the last few years. Their speedy brigade of smalls runs all over us and we simply don't have the quick agile defenders to keep up with them. Since we know that this is the case, could we perhaps not have the anguished gnashing of teeth anf lamentations tomorrow evening? Perhaps we could even avoid the calls for an instant sacking of the coach/board/runner/Jack Watts. Just a thought.

I'd like to say that Watts not actually playing will save him from criticism this week, but I can't say that with any confidence.

Swap Tapscott for Toumpas and that side would be filled with the best runners that we have. If you had Dawes and Clark as tall targets the player types on paper would be the best fit for the style of game we are trying to play. Don't expect a win but if someone can stand up and offer a target we may be a shake if they're off their game.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
