Casey Scorpions v Williamstown

KC from Casey

Recommended Posts

maybe,

that's part of the reason i asked the question

things like flu and food poisoning could occur without travelling interstate

so why 3? why not 2 or 4 or 5?

with viney being rested it looks like we will be resting 4 players (assuming od is correct) who are close to selection

i wonder if there are any statistics across all clubs as to what constitutes "normal practice" in this situation

i'd just hate for anyone to think we were tanking list managing :)

I doubt it dc everyone now knows we are crap

Or is this setting up the best one ever!

dc if my memory serves me I am fairly confident this has happened numerous times in the past with interstate games.

I think is more a case of covering things like the flu than having three suspect players.

Pretty sure you are right there 'old dee', I seem to remember it being standard practice.

Good advice H_T

I hope everyone remembers the emergencies for the MFC side will be in Brisbane

So no Strauss,Nicholson or Spencer in at Casey this week.

All played very good games last week for Casey

Do they all need to go to Brisbane - not ideal, but take maybe one up with the team Saturday, and put the other two on an early flight Sunday? It would provide some degree of security.

There is a good article on the clubs website about the relationship between mfc and casey, it is a good read. This week we will have between 16 to 18 mfc listed players at Casey with a couple more in the reserves. We don't need a stand alone team we basically have this with Casey. Would love the name to change to the Casey demons just to push the mfc brand more in the casey community. To me this current partnership works great for both clubs and hopefully this is the year that they can get the flag.

Looking back a geelong and the building of their premiership list, it all started by winning the vfl flag with a very young group, this is different to when we won flags at sandy we had good vfl players on our afl list and sandy had very good vfl players. Do we do the same, really have a crack this year to create that winning culture with our young players

Hopefully the relationship is on the improve and Casey are on the improve financially.

Maybe the name can change when it gets to finals time and we make available more than 3 listed MFC players to the club rather than everyone go out for "surgery".

Coupla questions for anyone who may know...

Is there a limit to the amount of MFC listed players that can play Casey seniors? If not, then I'm a bit concerned Barry is in the seconds.

Not 100% sure but I think there is a limit of 12?

Could be wrong tho

Yes there is definitely a limit. I'm not sure what it is though.

...A half useful response.

Did a bit of research and from what I can find out there used to be a limit of 12 but that was ditched in 2011.

The only limit is players have to play a certain number of VFL games to be eligible for finals.

Don't take it as gospel, but that's the info I've found.

Given that, it's a bit deflating that Barry is playing seconds.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
