top 15 pick or top 25 and a player, he is an All Australian full back and only 24

Hawthorn should be all over him if he decides to leave.

Posted

Demonique - I refer to your strange logic stating Frawley should leave if he has had a gut full. Bloody amazing isn't it ? He is probably on 300 grand a year....

Frawley is part of the problem and that does not entitle him to coast and just pick up his healthy paycheck at the dees then [censored] off when he is ready. I am sick of this mentality. These guys are paid a shyte load of cash yet still cannot perform to a reasonable standard.

His attitude stinks...did you watch him on the weekend?

Posted

Players like Brian Lake and Rivers both left in search of finals glory, both were also on their last contract so were happy to play for less. Frawley would be looking at a new three year deal on big$$ then a final contract to see him out. This would automatically rule out some clubs. Someone mentioned the Saints, they might have some cash to throw around but if their window is still wide open why did Lyon walk out. If Neeld feels there is truth to Chip wanting out bloody ask him, and if the answer is yes he plays reserves all year. If you don't want to be here be man enough to say so, if you want to stay and put your hand out for big$$ then conduct yourself accordingly.

Could not agree more....

just an example of the simple things not being done.....

surely these are 'non-negotiables'.....

embarrassing performance from Frawley!!

perhaps he should look at the frustration of Garland when he got beaten on the lead... he was absolutely filthy!!

I hope Chip was blasted, for twice standing on the mark and not even bothering to put his hands up. He just watched as Kennedy kicked it over his head.

I thought it was selfish, lazy and pathetic. At the other end of the ground Brown was jumping around on the mark when his side was 12 goals up.

One player cares and the other doesn't. Pathetic.

People saying if I was Frawley I would leave blah blah blah. He is part of the LEADERSHIP group and shows zero leadership. If his answer is to just leave this club then that is poor form and shows he isn't a leader. He should be one of the guys pushing everyone to improve and want to take this club up. Instead it seems he's happy to just take his pay cheque for the year then leave. If this is the case it shows he isn't a leader and perhaps would do better just being a bit part player at another club.

We need strong leaders at this club and it seems he doesn't want to be one.

It's his job, and he wants to work in a successful environment. Hard to keep motivated when you're constantly getting flogged.

Hard to take pride in your trade when your club is useless at its trade.

Of course I hope he wants to stay, stick at it while the going is tough and enjoy success at the one club. However if he doesn't see any hope of success, why would he stay?

He is a person in a highly demanding, very short term industry. Like any one of us, he'd be looking to make the most of it.

Do you think Jared Rivers feels anything other than extreme joy that he left?

Because as is he is part of the problem, as a professional he should be trying to be part of the solution.

We seem to be far to forgiving towards our players and look to everything but them as the problem, the power to turn things around lays at their feet but none of them have the drive and self respect to act. As long as the heat is on someone else that will never change with this group and Chip seems happy to go with the flow.

I need to say this carefully. I wonder whether Frawley is struggling to understand Mark Neeld's gameplan and instructions. I have no idea if Neeld has a complex plan or whether he speaks in a complicated way. But Frawley doesn't strike me as being the quickest to appreciate complexities.

Forget trade scenarios, we should be planning how to best keep him at the club. Chip is vital to the back line going forwards and people talking him down here are clearly trying to make themselves better about the possibility of losing him. He is our best backman by a mile.

That run out of defence was evident only once on the weekend.

His defensive efforts were appauling on the weekend - and he ended up playing on Le Cras... not Darling or Kennedy.

The other thing is that he will no longer take the game on...

Needs his Mojo back!

We can't keep leaking experienced players. We have lost so many over recent years. Ad especially considering how good we know Frawley can be. Need to find a way to he these players back to their best, rather than just getting rid of them, even if it is through a trade. This recent cycle is counter productive.

There are a lot of "if's" floating around in this thread....

Frawley is one of the few valuable players on our list...... He could walk into any team in the country..... It's a shame we don't have more players like this..... Nothing we do this year is going to change the out come of this season..... (It's time to tank).....

IF he wants, I will beg him to stay.... IF he go's, I don't blame him.....

Top 20 pick so yes.

Whats the use

We would probably waste any pick we gained if recent history is correct

Posted

The players are paid.

If he is gong backwards then I blame him.

Self motivation is something an AFL footballer should never lose.

Personal pride in your trade as a fullback is essential.

I agree. Let's stop all the blame stuff and ask players ton be accountable for their performance.

Part of his problem is he is not the sharpest tool in the shed....and he can't make decisions easily.

Lets stop pussyfooting around here. He needs to get on his bike and earn his money

I dont think it's time to tank.

Priority picks are fools gold .

We have seen how destructive it can be to "experiment'.

We need our best side on the park every week, giving it 100%.

Otherwise guys like Sylvia ,Frawley and Clark will walk.

Who is mentoring Chip at the moment?

Unsure, and it's not a bad idea. He thrived under Wellman, perhaps it's time some more work went into him from a mentoring perspective. He's seen as a senior player, but he's still relatively young. < Worthwhile covering all bases as a suggestion, that said I'm not even sure if the club is already doing it. If they aren't it's definitely worth consideration. Just to reinforce his importance to the team or generate any ounce of confidence that might be helpful in his game.

Let's not forget he worked well with the likes of Rivers down back who is no longer there. Working with a new look backline (I speak of Gillies in, Terlich in; Grimes out to the midfield). The synergy has been eroded and perhaps even the leadership is wanting down back. So our backline is leaking as a result as this is being re-constructed somewhat too.

It would be another challenging time for Frawley right now, and the club must put the best support around him to regain form and confidence among the back 6.

Frawleys last couple of years have been pretty poor, so he is taking a risk in someone picking him up especially for big $$'s, which he is getting at Melbourne because we have a very loose cap, others that have a tight cap are not going to be paying him more than we are, as they are taking a chance with a guy who has shown no motivation and a [censored] poor attitude, not traits that you want in a player.

using that logic i guess Jamar is safe as well.

The part i said about getting them back to their best is key. James Frawley should be coming into his prime years, he was All Australian at such a young age. If we get rid of a player like Frawley, even for pick 10ish, I will be ropable at both Frawley and the club. The whole idea of the draft is to get your hands on players like Chip and if we, and he, can't the best out of him and he just walks to another club, it is an indictment on the club in my eyes.

Jamar is a different story as he is on the downward side of his career, and is regressing at a million miles an hour. If he can get back to 2010 form, of course he has a spot, but it is looking unlikely.

I agree..... But losing felt better when I thought it was intentional..... Can't we just pretend we're tanking? I'd hate to think we are actually this bad....

P.s who do we blame... For the lack of shepparding and blocking? If our players did this we'd be a ten goal better side..... Watching the hawks and magpies on the weekend highlighted this for me..... Half there game is blocking, shepparding and creating space for the ball carrier.... Why don't we do this?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
