Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Does not know how to play man on man football. Is continually beaten when he does get into a one on one situation. Hve been a supporter of Col but I'm done.

Our defence is f******d.

Garland what has happened?? Used to be a smart footballer under Bailey/ Under Neeld his confidence is shot.

Yep. I'm starting to think that Garland just isn't AFL-standard. I'm sure he cares out there and tries his best, but quality wise, I just think he's lacking. Have thought this for a while.

Throw in Frawley who is still living off his AA-season from 3 years ago, McDonald who competes well but gives away multiple goals through his own doing and I think we have a problem.

Bring back Gillies! (Just joking)

I dont understand why Garland was on JJK and Darling at times. Surely that is Frawley and McDonald's men. I thought he was done by constant delivery to the forward line and good delivery too (especially when he was on Le Cras).

Remember that Garland didnt play down back last year and hes a hell of a lot better than Gillies.

Was playing ok on reasonable opponents and then they put him on Kennedy. Maybe they were working out if he can play as a tall defender but having not done it for 3 years the answer is he can't. Should of put Sellar on one of those guys when frawley started to struggle.

Of course constant inside 50's hurt.

I'm more concerned that he's no good with the ball in hand any more. Has no attacking instinct.

I'd probably give him a run in the 2's and trial Strauss instead.

At least what I saw from Garland today was annoyance, when he was beaten. This demonstrates passion and desire in him. He hasn't been the same player since Wellman left. My god, all our defenders have been hopeless this season though. They can't spoil. Garland initiated a couple of spoils, as did the passable McDonald (who at least provided run) and Sellar, but Chip Frawley either isn't interested in playing or he too has simply lost it since Wellman. I can't remember Frawley initiating a spoil today. There was one moment where he was in front, apart of a large pack of players. He didn't get a fist up and the Eagles player behind him marked it and converted from twenty out.

I don't think you can put it all on Garland, when Frawley's been worse considering his ability and has shown less desire. He used to thump the ground when his man marked it. Now he simply walks around with his hands on his hips.

2 words James Frawley.

He has no idea, Garland is a third tall but due to Frawley not caring he was moved to key defender. Frawley got smashed and what showed me he doesnt care is the way he stood the mark, lifeless, didnt even put his hands in the air for three set shots in the first half.

The number one problem with our defence is our midfield.

In the third quarter (the truly problematic one), the West Coast midfield was able to deliver the ball inside 50 at ease, with no pressure. Many of their kicks weren't able to be spoiled as they were purely to the West Coast player's advantage.

It's so easy to blame it all on Garland and Frawley, when, truth be told, they got no support from anyone, and had to deal with the ball constantly coming inside 50 with speed and precision.

Having said all that, of course it's also not fair to not note their poor games today. Frawley is just nothing like he used to be, whilst Garland is a third tall, nothing more. Problem for us is that West Coast had two or three legitimate forwards at any given time, making Garland have to play KPD, which he's just not good enough at.

I'm fairly sure Gillies was recruited to help in this area. That hasn't worked, as yet, and may not work. But Garland and Frawley do need to improve their one-on-one work regardless.

You could probably take that a bit further T u and look at the ease in which teams run it out of our forward line.

I wish people would stop making excuses for our back line. Yes our midfield is crap but so are Frawley and Garland

I agree to an extent T_U. I remember one stoppage in particular, where we had our entire midfield on the one side of the pack. We had no cover goal side. Shuey's thirteen for West Coast isn't he? Anyway, 13 waltzed into the space left free, receiving a handball from an Eagles midfielder. He then kicked it down the throat of an Eagles forward. Not one player was goalside. Not one. That's an indictment for me on Royal and Neeld. How can something so basically not be drilled into the midfield group?

Jade Rawlings is Brian Royal 2.0. Think Neeld is suffering for brining in so many inexperienced AFL coaches in his team

I think we're suffering. Neeld himself is inexperienced. Our last four coaches have been untried senior coaches. No wonder we struggle.

I think they follow Jade Rawlings lead. He had his back to the defenders and a relaxed posing look about him during the warm ups. That said I also think that as supporters we thought we had some backline positions and players locked in for the future. Today exposed our best defenders.

No its not. They continually get beaten in one on one contests. They cannot beat their man.

I do not accept that it is the midfield entirely although they are useless as well. We play dumb unaccountable football

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
