I am lost as to why you think what he said is so outrageous?

The backlash on Twitter and Facebook was like nothing I've ever seen. Almost every comment mentioned Schwab. Not a football fan in the world wouldn't have noticed that.

Demonland is pretty minnow in comparison.

So its our fault?

Rubbish.......and the media had nothing to do with it.

It's not our "fault". We're stakeholders, paying members. If we demand action we should get it.

The sentiment towards Schwab was almost exclusively negative. I don't think the club even anticipated that. Do you really think AFL HQ right now is in damage control over Melbourne? Don't you think that seeing as though the club is balancing the books the league would support the CEO?

Truly astonishing that some of you actually think the AFL played a power role in his resignation. The writing was on the wall on Saturday.

Vlad was on 3AW just before and he said he wants our club to survive for another 150 years and that the Melbourne Brand is powerful in the overall competition seeing that Melbourne is the heartland of the competition.

He wants a new CEO to go in to the club and do a full review of what's wrong and report to the board and tell them what needs to be done.

Strangely I believe him.

I thought we have had this covered on the Cameron Schwab resigns topic....

.it is quite simple, things occurred, things supposedly occurred, things were reported as occurring, rumours had things occurring etc etc etc.......50% of the supporter base believed the Media hype and were convinced they occurred, 50% either didn't believe it or didn't care........a few of the more influential supporters, and those with a public voice made a lot of noise........sponsors got nervous....the Board felt the nerves......and Cameron fell on his sword

Trial by Media triumphs again..........I am not a fan of the Labour Party but I begin to see we need some sort of control, the defamation and slander laws are not enough now

Vlad is now making the right noises to soothe sponsors and the supporters with a public voice, he doesn't want the spotlight turned on AFL House

AAAHHHHH....no he doesn't, every decision Demetriou makes has a commercial reason behind it if you mean he wants to keep the competition commercially viable then yes, but the rest....no no and no........

Vlad has his own version of what the AFL should be...all decisions are geared to that end.

Sounds a lot like The Ray Andrews Report to me. Might be a good idea to use it as a starting point.

Agreed, it is the point i have made previously about rule changes, the anti congestion rules are not for us but for an international tv audience, want to make the game more palatable.......new tv ad for afl says a lot.......VLAD +TV DOLLARS=WHAT FOOTY WILL BECOME

Exactly why more heads will roll.

The AFL cannot afford to have a guarranteed dud game every week that is over in 10 minutes.

They learnt that with the Bears.

Channel 7 & FOX wish to sell advertising space during our game to pay the bills. Chances of doing that now are getting lower.

Now you are being silly, haven't you watched television lately, most of the programs these days have set victims, we are like a sporting Biggest Loser, with Caroline Wilson playing that rather plastic female instructor..........I have supporters of other teams who watched the whole game last Saturday, they made sure they told me......

Then you play within those parameters.

He wants 18 teams to thrive - we are one. Consolidate.

Rinse and repeat.

If you go on the MFC facebook, there were hundreds of people calling for Schwabs head (and rejoicing when the news was announced). Couple that with all the people here and on Bigfooty that have been wanting in gone for ages... why is it so hard to believe what he is saying?

They were for us first and foremost, you might not like the way they've approached it with the new rules and interpretations but I don't think anyone liked the congestion and rugby style scrums that had come into the game.

There were approximately 26000 members re signed, agreed not all of them may have liked Cam Schwab or what he meant just before the season started, we added another 3000 after the first game, so still ok.......second big loss.......Media frenzy......we still added another 1000.......so a few hundred on MFC website who are the same who post on BigFooty/Here/Twitter/Newspaper seems a bit disproportinate don't you think......it is the supporters with a media voice that matter they spooked the sponsors...

Hahahahahahaha fool - couldn't possibly be that Schwab had done a poor job and had created and entrenched divisions within the club. It's nothing personal and Schwab handled himself with dignity yesterday however he had to go and not because Caroline Wilson had an ancient axe to grind but because it was in the best interests of he Melbourne Footy Club. Hopefully we can move on now and not worry about looking backwards and further entrenching the fractures within the club mainly between the admin and FD.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
