Neeld's Pre-Game Address

Recommended Posts

Having seen the address and seen how the players played I now know why our players play like they do. That speech was so uninspiring no player would put their nuts on the line for him. I've said it before and I'll say it again a chronic insomniac would have fallen asleep and the players looked like they weren't far behind. Total rubbish. When he finished you could hear a pin drop and there was no "c'mon boys" or "insert firing up cheers from the player here" shouts from the guys. [censored] weak. No wonder we play like a bunch of pansies.

I was - unfortunately - at the game and haven't seen the footage, but my wife said it was the most uninspiring, "down" kind of thing she has seen. Can anyone provide a link for me to watch it?

It was 90 minutes before the game.NOT just before they ran out. I'm not sticking up for neeld because the zoning gameplan blows but you can't give an old fashioned rev up 90 minutes before a game.

Can't recall exact stats but something like 20% of communication is the words, the rest is body language and tone. Clearly mark never taught that at school. No wonder they look uninspired.

Shocking footage, even worse he let it happen and then performed so poorly.

But you can show emotion and leave a positive vibe.

Absolutely you can. I've read dozens of posts on here expecting a full on rev up and everyone breathing fire. But it was 90 minutes before the game not 9 minutes. I get that everyone is pi55ed and neeld isn't the flavor of the month right now but fair go,

Learning is an important part of coaching, but our boys lack fire. It is the senior coach's job to inspire.

You all just don't understand. Coaching is a science now, and men like Mr Neeld are like university professors, explaining the finer points of rocket science to post-graduate students. Footballers are professional sportspeople. They don't need to be inspired to play, it is their job. They turn up for work, and get paid like the rest of us. The days where inspiration was needed are long gone. We don't need another Alan Killigrew or John Kennedy or John Northey.

Unfortunately, if your job is football, you can't afford to spend the first two hours scratching your b...s.

Simplistic but that's the idea. We've got simple footballers.

And essendon made more errors to us at half time. Neeld is right, mistakes don't matter nearly as much as poor effort. Ask yourself at 1/4 where you that disappointed, to be honest I wasnt. We are a hopeless team but if we compete its a bloody start

pre-game speeches 90 minutes before a match are not meant to inspiring..its reinforcing what needs to be done in a calm matter..its clinical.

People should hope on youtube and look up pre-game speeches, there are lots and they look like that in professional sporting clubs.

Maybe we should adopt the grid iron part where they all knee and pray as part of the pre-game speech..

The pumping up speeches come int he breaks...

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
