Ban the bugler

We have a lot more serious issues to worry about than the bugler. This club has a reputation as being snobby and elitist but the reality is that the Melbourne Football Club has a very broad and varied fanbase. However i love it when we play up to that elitist image by bringing out the bugler with the smoking jacket. If it enrages the likes of Joffa and the rest of the Collingwood cheer squad then the man is doing his job!I just wish the players and coaching staff at this club would start doing likewise.

Fellas:

I post a fair bit at BF, and started this about the very issue last week.

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/get-rid-of-the-melbourne-fc-bugler/

Sign it, we want 100 signatures at least before we go to the club.

Either he plays before the boys come out, or he doesn't play at all.

Jazzed it up spectacularly again this weekend.

We're half way there with the signatures, 50 more!

I agree, but he needs to be doing it before the players come out.

Is this the Bugler, at about 50 seconds in.

Buy him a horse & send him home.

Bloody hell. That should be the pre match entertainment right there. Start a fox hunt out on the ground before the opening bounce. Set the fox free an hour before the bounce and the blokes on horses set off from the center square just before the match starts. If we want to look like snobby, elitist bell ends, we may as well go the full nine yards. We could even run a scoreboard competition for the fan who lets out the heartiest 'Tally ho lads!' as the horses trot off. Prizes would include snifters of port, exotic cigarettes with Burgess Meredith/Penguin style cigarette holders and if you are lucky, a private school blazer complete with straw hat and knee high socks.

Sorry, I know I'm just venting now. I'm hating the club right now. I hope I can get my love for it back.

You're dreaming Irish. No-one's enraged. They are just laughing at us.

Before a ball is bounced

Get rid of him. Nothing against the bloke but the concept sucks. And the OP is right, we've been shite ever since we trotted him out. While no-one suggests the bugler is the cause, he is synonymous with our shiteness

No, this is where you & the MFC are wrong, IMO.

who cares about stirring the opposition, with a stupid bugler in a jacket, playing "oh oh razzmatazz", to the MCC !

the problem is its 'turning off' much more peope who'd like to support the club including members,,, or past members.

I can't help it myself, I just Hate it !

IT IS Not, what I want the club to be... and I scratch my head & cringe, thinking this isn't my club... its another nail in the coffin, of how I for One, feel about the club.

Please, get rid of him, out onto the outside boardwalk.

Agree 100%, but the idea of him playing Uh oh razzamattaz amuses me.

I love the buglar. He should be a symbol of the fact that we don't care what anyone thinks. F everyone, if we want a buglar we'll have one.

FFS we have got to stand up for whatever we believe in - buglars, colours, grounds - you get the picture. Otherwise they'll wipe the floor with us.

I'm with you, BBO. Put a decent beard on the bugler, and all would be well. He could be the 'Bearded Demon bugle boy who pumps up the Dees' :)

I'm not a big one for bumping threads but I thought I would show the world what most people think of the bugler. He doesn't enrage the opposition supporters, he makes them laugh.

trouble is he's Not adding a bloody thing, but he's detracting from the day & turning people off going to the games.

If he's employed by the MCC, then we should play something to drown him out.

I say keep the buglar. If anything we need to give him more prominance on match day!

He'll be the making of this club if only we could parade him on a float so eveyone gets to see that amazing jacket and hear his amazing tones. Tut tut and tally ho chaps, an amazing cultural heritage before every home game what!

BTW, does anyone know what the fine might be for throwing eggs and tomatoes at someone on the hallowed MCG turf? Good therapy for every frustrated Demon supporter!

can he dance?

Maybe he can play this as our boys get the tops off for their Pre game warmup ?

Well McLardy said everyone's position is under the microscope, perhaps the Bugler could be next!

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
