Moloney has always got the ball and just hacked it on the boot.

There is no clean disposal going forward with Moloney in the centre, the best you can hope for is the ball bombed long.

He doesn't give his fowards the best opportunitiy to take clean marks inside 50.

On this year, Moloney still looks far and away better than any of our midfielders - other than Jones.

But if we'd kept Moloney, it would've stunted the progress of our up and coming midfielders and our midfield in general.

In saying that, Jamar coming good would go a long way to improving our midfield as well.

I'm not a fan but at least he has been giving the ball off by hand a lot more today and not trying to bulldoze his way through, that's the plus.

On the negative side he was not being tagged (as we know he doesn't handle a tag well at all), that reward was given to Rich who really struggled with Lower who took the points well and truly. As usual when kicking he bombed the ball forward with no consideration of where it was going.

I've always said we can't carry Silvia and Moloney in the same side so I'm happy to see him at Brisbane.

The other beauty of this game is that the Doggies creamed them in the midfield an area that a lot of the so called experts had seen as a Brisbane strength with the addition of Moloney, a lot on here knew different but hey...no Black, no midfield still.

Now it's up to us to prove the experts wrong, to much has been placed on a NAB cup that is more and more obvious clubs and players are not taking seriously and are using as practice games.

IT was more about you saying he goes missing when his team is struggling, which was often true for us, but as I said I was only going by stats as I'm unable to watch the game, and the stats didn't seem to support that view.

'stuie', he did get a bit of the ball but there was no close tag on him. As usual he didn't do a lot of damage when he had it, opposition sides know this and he will be let run a bit more this season. Rich will get the close tag until Black comes back then it will be a toss up.

Don't agree on this, he was always a hinderance to the midfield as a group. Best he is gone. I think Viney will give more in his first season by the way.

I have no ill feelings towards Beamer, but I'm glad we let him go because he wasn't going to do anything with us. I hope he keep racking up possessions, I've got him in my dreamteam!

as long as its not against us!

While we're discussing ex-MFC players $cully still has a punchable face.

Also on the VFL I saw Addam Maric do one of the lowest percentage kicks coming out of defence in history for Werribee, so he's still alive too.

From the sounds of it, if he racks up the sort of possies he got today then it might not matter.

yeah i was thinking that after i read all the other comments

Yes, many of his kicks were out of the same old basket - but we mustn't forget that his team was done by 70 points. It isn't easy to look the goods in that situation.

I'll tell you how well Moloney played - the Bulldogs didn't even bother to tag him...it seems they really rate him. And for someone who wasn't tagged, 20 possies is a poor return for a midfielder...(and half his possessions ended up with the opposition)

Why would we want a player who came along last year and basically didn't try?

Exactly, yet somehow every 'commentator' in the country wants to ignore this when they criticise us for having 7 new players in the side.

Well it is Easter Sunday so I guess miracles can occur on that day.

A couple of the boys do have Jesus beards. Could be a Jack Watts day.

Moloney will be ok at Brisbane in terms of his output. But I noticed him continually yelling at teammates when they were against it, which seems pretty typical of him.

Martin on the other hand...I can't believe he is playing as a forward. He is potentially an average ruckman, and I actually think he could be an ok big defender, with his size and athleticism. But he would have to be one of the worst key forwards going around in the competition. He lacks footy smarts, he has a shocking pair of hands, and he couldn't kick a set shot to save himself. I expect a shift around the ground or a stint back in the state league coming his way within a month.

Oh, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Doggies get the win today. They were ravenous and would just not stop hitting the contests twice as hard as Brisbane, and gave them an absolute lesson. Loved seeing the look on Vossy's face as they continued to capitulate.

Useful dream team player, will get stats above his current value. Then drop him when Brisbane do, hopefully for a trade just as Trengove begins his upward curve after his likely slow start to the season...

But I really don't feel like our midfield would be meaningfully better with him in it. Works too solo attacking, leaves a hole defending.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
