The main victim in this heinous scenario is Chris Connolly, a loyal servant of the club whose punishment certainly doesn't fit the crime.

I noticed on twitter that Jon Ralph is suggesting that Chris is a "monty" to be new Casey Scorpions Community Programs Manager. I like the idea but wonder if this could be done within the terms of his suspension given the Scorpions are affiliated with the MFC.

They are a separate club. We have been told that several times and they play in the VFL not the AFL. He was suspended from the AFL.

Interesting Patrick Smith is calling for Schwab's sacking as Bailey reported to Connolly who reported to him. He said this of Demetriou who was calling for greater governance standards in the AFL:

"He could start by asking why Melbourne's chief executive, Cameron Schwab, has not resigned in the wake of another catastrophic episode in the club's history.

Bailey reported to Connolly, who reported to Schwab. Whether Schwab knew that Connolly and Bailey were preparing sides to lose is irrelevant. They were answerable to him."

As they are all answerable ultimately to the AFL, perhaps he should be asking why Demetriou hasn't tendered his resignation.

He smells some blood in the water. But he and Caro are not big enough sharks.

Patrick Smith has zero stature in AFL writing in a 'Sydney' paper read by very few, and Caro has herself knee deep in mud at the moment.

Funny. I was thinking last night that maybe he could be a full-time Assistant Coach to Casey's Part-time Senior Coach. (That would be a novel first...! LOL)

He has (a month or two back), he thought Demetrio set up the conditions that led to tanking and should take the fall.

A great article from Martin Flanagan in today's Age concerning Chris Connoley. Have had a bit to do with Chris and he is an unfortunate victim in this whole saga and doesn't deserve the stigma he has been landed with. He is a true Melbourne person who has the best intentions even though his execution may at times be misinterpreted. I think he deserves more support on this forum.

Someone should tell Smith that the workers at News of the World also reported ultimately to Rupert Murdoch.

Let's see how long he lasts at News Limited if he follows up the line of thinking he has over the need for CS to resign by calling for Murdoch's head.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

The Demons head back to Melbourne after an embarrassing loss to the Dockers to take on the Magpies at the MCG on Kings Birthday. With a calf injury to Lachie Hunter and Jacob van Rooyen possibly returning from injury who comes in and who goes out?
