I suspect Neeld will be absolutely rope able, the MFC has had enough media coverage over the past few months. I don't think we'll be seeing either of these boys against Port in round 1 or in the leadership group for that matter. Imagine being hungover and Mark Neeld flashing up on your phone haha!. Probably not much to it, and getting kicked out of bay 13 is a right of passage for most in their early 20s. But that combined with hanging out with gangsters in vegas kinda paints the picture of incompetance rather than the opposite.

Those involved should incur punishment . Extra trsining as well as suspension from round one. Frawley just flunked his leadership application .

Having sat in Bay 13 for the first time 2 years ago as a 27 year old, and having sat in the MCC many times before that, I was surprised by how jumpy the security guards are with a bit of harmless fun, i.e. the "beer trains" and how itchy their "trigger fingers" are for kicking someone out.

At times they are expecting trouble and quick to anticipate it, whether real or imagined.

I've witnessed blokes get hauled out for very little indeed.

I don't necessarily believe the players are innocent, and the decision to place themselves in bay 13 deserves scrutiny, but this discussion needs some balance.

There are so many unknowns involved that it is entirely irrelevant.

What's the timing got to do with it?

Any other day at the cricket would have been just as bad, if not worse.

Decision-making? It was poor.

But McDonald's "good" decision-making in going to the gym is furphy, as I'm sure the players at the cricket also decide to go to the gym when they don't have a prior engagement.

You could be applauding McDonald for simply not having much interest in the cricket.

If you are an AFL player it IS hard to stay out of the newspaper....Where ever you go the media is not far behind....It's a pity they have to hide to prove the're human or to be allowed to have Christmas cheer like we do in public......No arrests.....no charges.....Just told to go home...

Couldnt agree more, Im from Corowa where Kozi went to school. He came to a school reunion in a pub my missus owned and was blind, tryed to shout the whole bar Jager shots (not enough Jager) picked up the tab for the last half hour for the hunderd people in there, then went back and partied at some dudes house (where they fed him Carlton Draught cans with the collingwood team photo on it).

Apparently some time after that a few other St Kilda boys came up and they were stuffing around on his parents farm I presume and someone got run over by a four wheeler. Never heard this boring story have we, why?

The guy who took the shots for the paper said there wasn't much in it. Seems some in the crowd were getting into the boys and security thought it better to move the players out of harms way and get the crowd back under control.

The only mistake I can see is one of judgement in being at the "G" in the outer, pity it has come to this but there are a lot of DH's in the world.

The only players to arc up were a Geelong and Richmond player, according to the newspaper man the players moved on without incident apart from the Geelong guy who took offence to something some clown said.

Unfortunately it made for some good pix at a quiet time. Anyone see anything there from a Melbourne listed player that was a major issue.

I think we are a little shell shocked on here after what we had to put up with in season 2012 but it seems our players were just enjoying a day at the cricket, hardly a hanging offence and hardly any need for club action.

Everything comes back to winning games.

Chatting/smiling after a loss, wacky Christmas videos, beers at the cricket... All these things are magnified because of our lack of success. Reality is what these guys got up to is not that bad, but because we're so frustrated as supporters and as a club we take it personally. I'm not saying right or wrong either way for this as the arguments for both sides seem pretty even at this stage, but let's just remember these guys play for OUR club, and not unlike those indicated in the tanking investigation, let's stand by them until we are given enough reason not to.

I'd love for us to become more "one eyed" like that as a supporter base.

its as simple as... One bloke has a dedication to doing his utmost to be the best he can an also has ability to pick and choose where and when might be opportune to watch in public.

nothing to do with whether he has interest in cricket of not as the result to the "silly fellow's outing" was all about where and how ( npi ) they did it.

I read the article on News.com.au It seems to me that the spirit amongst our playing group last year and this year is and will be strong.

If past players still mix and are part of the club spirit I see that as a strong sign that things are very good amongst the players at demonland !

The exact words were "spot the difference in dedication."

My contention is that dedication has nothing to do with it; that this "incident" has minimal bearing on dedication.

It's about poor decision-making.

And while McDonald would appear to exhibit the ability to be a good decision-maker (as did Howe and Frawley until yesterday), it speaks nothing of the comparison of their varying levels of dedication.

I'm sure if you tried, you could find a point in time where the cricket spectating MFC players were working away in the gym over the offseason, whilst Tom McDonald was off putting his feet up.

It's simply misguided comparison.
