I was getting a little P&&%ed off by all the negativity flying about in the topics that have been headlining for the last few weeks.

Now we get a chance to discuss a kid whose heart beats Red & Blue like no other.

I have seen him train a few times and can't get over how hard an 18yo puts in. He really is hard on himself and expects the same

from everyone else in the team. It's that attitude and exuberance that will have a very positive influence on the whole side.

I've seen it happen many years ago when a bunch of kids got promoted to the seniors and their effervescence just took the rest of us on a wonderful ride. We were feeling flat as a club but they lifted us to heights we never thought possible. I think with jack and a few others we are headed for one hell of a journey.

I just can't wait to see what lies around the corner.

I love that he is aware of the fact that he needs to focus and channel that aggression rather than just running around like a bull in a china shop. It's that sort of awareness that makes him such an exciting prospect. Everything I have read has just made me more excited about this guy.

Just so you get a full impression of the young man's all round ability, he pulled a cool 48 ( out of 50) for Business Mgt in his VCE exams. I don't know what his full ATAR score was - but that's not a bad start!!

Controlled aggression is far more effective than mayhem aggro, this kid is very level headed and will use his aggression to demoralise the opposition one day soon, his o'l man use to be pretty strong at the ball and opposition but I reckon son will take it to a new level, just what the Dee's have lacked for far too long.

I do question the thing about drafting kids with great leadership. How many leaders do you need at one club? If your entire list is packed with them, then who follows? I seem to recall the English soccer team having issues at one point when they had three strong captains from different clubs on the park at the same time, all trying to be the go-to leader of the side and getting in each others' way all the time. Personally, I think we have a very solid core of young leaders and perhaps that criteria should be moved a little further down the order in what they are looking for in draftees.

RM - I think the idea is that these kids will push themselves and each other to heights that require a collective of talented, confident, and irrepressible leaders.

This isn't a 'too many chiefs' scenario as these boys are intended to be the Indians aswell...

Self mastery precedes mastery of others.

These young blokes have the character, the integrity and dare I say the ability to foster that culture of success and not taking a backward step the team has been missing for so long.

You need leaders at all levels in an organisation. People that will challenge the status quo and behave appropriately.

We need a team full of this type to get to and remain on the top.
