wish they would just use the same red as sydney or essendon, coz they look red.....

yes it is funny how both teams have "RED" and have never changed it and always looks red.

It beggars belief the number of attempts we have had on this subject.

It looks orange to me.

60% Orange - 40% Red.

I think they've given up trying to get the blood red to work on a shiny material.

as DemonDing says how hard can it be Sydney and Eseendon have had Red that looks Red for years.

I truely do not understand the problem Dee-luded

I know our away jumper looks pretty similar to the old sth Melbourne jumper but I could cop it if we're the same red and Sydney's, that pinky, maroon colour is awful! Edited by DemonDing

I would've thought it'd be a watermark but that's the only photo with it on there out of the 4 so it could be a monogram.

Guernsey design'll be something to bring up at the AGM. I thought it was comfortable enough to play in during the forum footy game we had but if players don't get their guernseys individually fitted then I'd like to know why this isn't an option.

Well let's all donate some more money so the boyz can have some better fitted jumpers. What a joke.

We didn't get a 7 million dollar profit like Collingwood did this year so its just proof that the gap between the rich and the poor clubs is very big.

I would much prefer to see more money put into the football department then put into a tighter fitting jumper.

It's the jumper manufacturer who should be offering this not the club.

I doubt it would even be any more expensive than just using standard sizes.

I don't understand how Essendon can get red so well. I also can't understand why Melbourne is so afraid to go down the dark jumper route it had in the 50s and 60. Who cares if it's too dark compared to Essendon? You make sure you're the dominating and popular club. I think that the club is underestimating the high definition televisions, and it appears like it's going against the stream. It made a red that looked pink on television. Would an even darker red, and a dark blue look light on television and still have a distinctive red and blue look? The club has failed terribly in that regard. Those jumpers were pink and blue to 97% of football lovers that would only see Melbourne on television.

I like the look of the new Guernsey for 2013. The brighter red (i.e. the same as that of Sydney, Bulldogs, etc) looks far better on the navy blue than does that other colour we've had for the last 2 seasons. I always said while I was growing up (i.e in the 1990s and 2000s) that we had the best Guernsey in the league, however, this has been far from my view in 2011-2012. Thankfully the club listened to the supporters on this one!

Just a small note, the emblem on that Guernsey pictured above still had the 'aweful' red - to be contrasted with the red in the Guernsey itself - hopefully this is changed as well!!

Bump.

A look at the new guernsey in the 'making of the team photo' video here:

http://vine.co/v/bJXt6jU5Zx5

My positive pre-season attitude is going to assume it's merely the lighting... because if our guernsey successfully goes from looking pink to being a (not-so-imposing) fluorescent red-orange... I'm going to be shattered.

saw the new jumper in the shop a week ago...yes the jumper is more 'red' than the last two years. other than that, it's all the same - cut, design, yoke type.

Tbh, I think the most important part is to have the right blue - dark, dark, dark.

The red the past two years was strange, though it was clearly going for a particular something that they may have just missed.

For the 'modern fabrics' this red might be the best they can get.

Still not liking the collar, it goes too far around the front.

The yolk looks a bit different too. If you compare it to the 2012 jumper, the sides of the yolk now start higher on the jumper. It's only small but it changes the look of the yolk quite a bit, makes it look a smaller.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
