Would big Clarky be a better captain for the 2013 season and let the two Jacks be free to focus on their game. I think Clark would be an outstanding captain, but in saying that I think Trengove and grimes are great leaders too

Nah, Clark is great how he is and is already effectively the captain of the forward line. He has enough to do with that, his injury management and off field initiatives.

I think a more pertinent question is: is it school holidays already..?

He definately has an aura about him.

Probably took over where Neitz left off, as far as what he brings to the side.

I dont think they will dump Trenners and Grimesy though, both still good leaders.

How about you discuss the topic....your posts always seem to aim at distracting others from the topic. If not then stay out of it son.

Clark would certainly make a good captain. However they've made a commitment to the two Jack's who are quality young men, and will/should develop into outstanding captains.

Yep he would get my vote easily, as it is I'm struggling to put Trengove in the best 22

Clarke would lead seamlessly!

Nah, keep the Jacks though I personally advocate that Trengove gets moved to the vice captaincy and Grimes is made captain. I think Trenners is still a bit young and seems a bit hamstrung by it. Grimesy on the other hand I think is ready for it now and just got better as the year went along.

No, in my view captains need to be playing in the middle from where they can both lead and assert themselves on the game, Grimes and Trenners did ok this year and will improve alot over the next two...

Clark will be / is a great leader for the forward line, not for the whole team.

Clarke is already leading! A sensational knock of 259 not out at the Gabba yesterday. Great innings. So why does he need your vote?

As for Trengove & Grimes, they're both fine and mature enough to handle the captaincy. And if Trengove isn't in your best 22, you need your head read.

Dangerously on topic but I would have thought Clark had enough on his plate getting his foot right, getting fit for Rd1 and playing the position / role Neeld wants without thrusting captaincy on him.

I agree that he has mongrel and leadership to burn (along with his skills), and maybe down the track he ends up a captain, but for the time being I dont see the advantage.

We dont even know if his foot has been fixed properly and if he can play footy again

I am sure thats all hes worrying about at this stage

I think Trenners and Grimesy Will go ok as captains...but I dont think they will be as Captainlike as Mitch is...Trenners & Grimesy are young but how long will we wait for Captain like games ala Neitz/Lyon ect..???

Its not as if they really stood out this year lets be honest.... although it was a poor year by MFC...However, with better players around them they will lift another cog I think.

Mich Clark IMO should be captain Yes. He will be fine by round one. And I cant wait to see him play!

No disrespect to Trenners & Good Times as they are good footballers.

But it is what it is and these boys are the captains so I will back that because the club backs it!

Posted

I would add Clark and Jones but that is because I liked how Sydney did it a few years ago.

Also I don't like Captains just given the role back for the next season.

I am a captain myself, and I won't accept it for next season until the coaches have done some sort of poll with the players and discussed it themselves.

I think the real question is: Why is there an umlaut above the 'o' in the thread title?

If that bothers you then don't look at the inappropriate and over zealous use of diacritics in his favourite player(s) list.

My god.

It's like Cyrillic code...

CIA plot or a child-like fascination with Diacritics?

I doubt it.

The two Jacks are young, tough, always give 100%, and are natural leaders.

It fits our model to have these two guys go through a 'captaincy apprenticeship' for a couple of years to learn their craft because in 2-3 years time, when we can actually have a decent crack at a premiership, the decision to make them captains when we did will definitely pay off on the ground.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
