The last thing they would have done if it was a set up was to promote it beforehand. It had to look spontaneous and even with a late call up for Brock, this could have been done over lunch on the same day.

Not sure that follows. The name of the game is ratings . If you've got a big story - you're going to use it to try to lift your audience. Why hide it under a bushel -why contrive to make it look spontaneous ?

Surely you'd be trying to make the most of it. "Make sure you watch "On the Couch" tomorrow - we've got a big breaking story for you". The last thing you do in the ratings game is hide your blockbusters !!

The more I think about it - the more I'm convinced that the spontaneity was genuine.

I thought this quote (below) was quite telling from Neeld . Obviously a tad sarcastic but sounded rather confident at the same time ...

"I'm sure that information is spot on, so we'll just wait for the next article."

She's run out of stuff . That's what happens when you play "Make believe's"

yes. I saw one in a London Museum about 30 years ago.

You just knew how gruesome they were by looking at it.

For a brief moment there wyl I thought you were talking about CW

"oh I will go to hell for that one"

CW is a different form of gruesome OD but just as effective. Do not chastise yourself for such thoughts. They are understandable & quite natural..:)

Months of investigations, people interviewed, re- interviewed, re-re-interviewed, computers & documents forensically examined, still no charges laid, hopefully they're struggling!

If they had anything concrete, there's a reasonable chance it might have leaked out .

The reason it's still ongoing is because they need something more concrete . And if they haven't found something substantial then what are the chances of finding something new now ?

That's just my gut feeling . Could be wrong of course .

I really really hope you are right Macca

But until it is officially announced we have nothing to answer I will continue to sweat it out.

Absolutely, it only took them weeks to swoop in the Tippett case because they had hard evidence.

yes. Stalag 13 has had access to MFC Hard Drives for weeks now & not a word has been said. This is why i am now reasnoably confident that there is nothing heavy to throw at us. Wilson has written her own versions of events which i hope will burn her down the track.

Not a word has been said.

They've probably got a fair bit of 'stuff' but the problem the investigators have got is that it's the same stuff that a myriad of other clubs have done before . GWS this season, for instance .

They need something more substantial than the norm, and it's highly doubtful that they have got anything of any real substance .

The reason many are 'sweating' is because ultimately it will be back in the Commission's hands . And they've been known to make the odd 'Poor' ruling . I'm assuming it will back in the Commission's hands before any ruling is handed down

eventually this Investigation will reach its inevitable conclusion/destination

A quick 10 minute pep talk could have easily set up the show.

New guest new questions...The first "why did you leave Melbourne?"....The rest takes care of itself.

You don't even need the 10 minute pep talk. All you need to know is that your mark is fairly dumb, that he talks and thinks that way and has made the comment before. The right question will get the result you want.

According to KB this morning Paul Roos instruction to McVeigh to go forward but don't kick a goal was "tongue in cheek", I guess the same defence could be mounted by CC given his renowned sense of humour.

Seems Wilson's case against us is not based on any solid evidence.

You guess, CC is a joker all the time.

He would not say something like that AT his men.

The sweetest day of all will come when the two players we've more or less snagged out of the Scully priority compo - Toumpas and Hogan - cut the opposition to shreds in a grand final.

Imagine the look on her face if it was against Richmond.

Now I know you're joking.

Had to laugh at this line at the end of the SEN article....more journalistic hyperbole.....

"Melbourne face a heavy fine or loss of draft picks if found guilty of not doing their best to win matches in 2009"

What rule was this again? Oh, that's right, the one St Kilda, Richmond, West Coast, Sydney, Hawthorn, Carlton, etc. etc broke. Take a number and get in line for your punishment!

It is curious that the constant splatter of innuendo has stopped these past 2 weeks - just like a tap being turned off.

It would be nice to think it's all case closed but what with all the talk of lawyers one could imagine that a tape measure is being run over it.

Proof is required hopefully hence all the dungeon tactics being brought ot bear on MFC staff

The tap seemed to turn off the moment we engaged our legal team, and came out swinging.

Maybe it's just co-incidence, but I'd like to think that it wasn't.

This is where the AFL's whole approach falls on its face

How can they look for something outside the norm when they haven't clearly established the norm by investigating a range of clubs ?They asked a few polite questions of Brett Ratten a couple of years ago - but the Integrity Mob haven't been near him. Other clubs could have set up vaults and installed cones of silence over every desk - and Clothier hasn't even put his head in their door - much less commandeered even one laptop.

Logic says that they can't reasonably ping us without proving that we clearly did things other clubs didn't do. If we are going to get the "natural justice" they have promised , then we are entitled to expect that they will investigate other clubs as well. Why haven't they started ?

I think the AFL wanted all negative Draft talk stopped, well before the National Draft.

Now its almost done, the microphones will be switched back on & the gloves will be removed IMO.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
