Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It's funny. I started a thread not so long ago whether one's support for the club was conditional, or unconditional. Whether supporters had a tipping point, or not. Right now, in the face of uncertainty and possibly serious ramifications I've never felt more committed, or up for a fight. And this is irrespective of the clubs possible infractions, because I know in my heart they were right. Even if they were wrong.

And great post Redleg.

Guest José Mourinho

It's one thing to say "we didn't tank" or "we didn't break any rules" it's another thing entirely to say "yeah we broke the rules but its their fault for making it so appealing". If this wasn't Melbourne in the gun and it was Carlton would you say "yeah they tanked in the Kreuzer Cup but it was the AFL's fault"? Get a grip, you can deny or you can say we did what was best for the club but you can't blame your actions on others and think people will just turn a blind eye.

Exactly what rules would we be guilty of breaking, though?

Good post. I feel the same. I am 60 and have supported them all my life. My wife and kids the same. Never seen them win a flag. Copped [censored] from other clubs fans all my life but never strayed. I started the first supporters club magazine, called Demon's World. I started a supporters group called the Premier's Club. I have been a Director of the club. I have been Team Manager of the club. I brought in a new President, Wayne Reid. I am a Foundation member. I am a sponsor. I enjoy Demonland. I have given all my hope and soul to this club. I don't want anything but success for the club.

I have watched Boards fight each other. I was even part of one big fight. I nearly cried at the merger meeting when I saw the way people treated the late Tiger Ridley, a true Demon great. I have seen the club tear itself apart. This year I watched as Jim passed away, not long after two other Demon greats in Sean Wight and Stewart Spencer. I watched a sponsor stuff us up. I watched the Jurrah situation. I watched as our Coach was falsely called a racist. I watched the team get smashed week after week. I watched the media go to town on us and they still are.

It just seems so unfair. Other teams cheat and win Premierships. We are the only team to win a game that losing would have given us a priority pick and we did it twice. When we did get a pick the kid spent a year lying to us and his dying President before the AFL took him away from us. There is so much more i could go on about.

We seem to spend all of our time worrying about our club. It nearly makes you want to cry and give up. However that is just not acceptable as I have my children and grandchildren who I want to one day enjoy success that I have been denied.

Stop the fighting amongst each other and all get behind the club.

If we lose draft picks I want this club to fight all the way and I mean all the way. We owe it to those who came before and those who will come after. I don't give a rat's arse what we have to do to prevail in this situation, I just want it done. If we have to bring in every other club or destroy Demetriou or hurt the AFL I don't give a sh-t anymore. I have had enough.

Yes we may have been naughty but no different to many other clubs yet we alone once again are copping it. Our brand is being trashed and our future hampered and in fact put at real risk. We have 40 or so players who want to win for us and we need to support them. I don't care how dirty we need to be just do it.

We are seen as a weak club. NO BLOODY MORE. If we lose draft picks, we should hit the Courts, rally at the AFL and show the rest of the clubs that we are here to stay.

Sorry for the rant, I have just had a gutful.

Although you have been much more involved with the club than me, the only difference between us is that I was lucky enough to be there in 1964.

Otherwise I agree with everything you say. Brilliant post!

Its not the coaching/footy dept fault . They were screwed by the Admin and perhaps the board.

Don't be so bloody stupid, the coach can tell the Admin department to get stuffed if he doesn't want to go along with this, what would the board do, sack him and give the reason that he wouldn't tank as ordered.

If we did tank the coach has to wear the blame, he sits in the box, he calls the shots on match day, I haven't seen Schwab sitting in there with the phone in his hand; have you? All this talk about the board putting him in an uncompromising position is [censored] just like your posts.

Boo hoo the board made me tank and I didn't have the guts to tell them to stuff their job my integrity is worth more than that; give me a break.

Just to clarify - I still don't think we've done anything wrong other than acting stupid. Every time the MFC played we played to win, no one has come out and said the players were told to lie down. I don't think we should cop anything and if we do the. As you say others should be in the gun. But you can't believe the opposite & then say its all the AFL's fault. Sure the system them had in place was flawed and sure they didn't address these issues at the time when every man and his dog knew the Blues amongst others were flagrantly tanking but there is still some personal responsibility that needs to be accounted for if you believe what we did was against the rules/against the spirit of the game.

The whole thing is shoddy i agree, but nobody can ever go near "Tanking" again, thus i believe a sanction of some sort has to occur to a procession of clubs.

I find the Media Spotlight on Melbourne disgusting, but maybe we are leaking...That's why i believe we need outside people to run the club after this sh!t has passed...By outside i mean the Boys Club, Mates/friends whatever must stop.

Hire the Best...it's going to take a long time to rebuild this mess.

Jimmy woke up the supporters & that is what we must never forget, but he aint a business man.

If the AFL want to get all Heavy on us...Take them to Court...the other clubs will back us.

Your responses are getting more and more pathetic, none of the board or admin are friends of mine. Have you and your mate run your race yet or is there more [censored] you want to spread?

If there was an election now neither you or your mates would get a look in, the board would be re elected unanimously and after all this is over I hope they do a thorough clean out of the vermin that infests the lower levels of the club. if you are a member I'm sure the club could do without your money. In fact if you'll hand in your membership, that's if you have one, I will donate the lost revenue to the club just to [censored] you off, that stands for your mate as well.

Premiership points and next years draft. But the rumour isnt from a particularly reputable source.

Club contact says the club isnt actually very concerned which seems surprising. And might suggest there is some substance to that rumour.

Mark Fine was quite good and echos what most rational observers would say. Too many clubs involved, dees shouldnt take the fall, if we do it will be an outrage, afl caused the problem. All the 'throw the book at them' group are holier-than-thoughs and 'chip-on-shoulders'.

Did Greg Denham crack a woodie on SEN? Rabble?

I listened to SEN this morning and Denham was surprisingly subdued only spoke about it when pushed by KB, didn't really stick the knife in made a few comments that weren't as snide as usual but were directed toward the club needing strong leadership at the top (CEO) .

Surprised very much by him

No prizes for seconds or thirds. Heard that offer a dozen times. No thanks. So much chest puffing and postulating going on around here. Why are not all you guys storming AFL house and getting page time in the Hun or the Age for the cause? Are you backsides welded to your ergonomic computer chairs? I was there today and not one irate Melbourne supporter to be seen anywhere. Then again the weather was crappy.

Fabulous post RL.

Curious to know more about this bit of it. I'm concerned about our clubs reputation, how that affects sponsorship, membership, fans etc.

"We are the only team to win a game that losing would have given us a priority pick and we did it twice."

That's a sign of integrity isn't it!

Could someone please tell me how many teams lost how many games like that? Thanks very much.

Hat off to you Redleg, great, no brilliant post. My oldest son was 5 months old wearing a beanie, jumper and scarf the night we beat St Kilda in 2006. He has jumped ship to the filth but my 5 year old has stayed true and I've promised to take him to see the Dees in a final at the G.

I can't wait to see my son smile the way I smiled when we beat the Dogs in 1987 I have never been happier with my beloved Dees

We feel your pain, keep the faith brother

Should we protest a yet to be announced finding, and yet to be considered sanctions, on the basis of a Caro gossip piece? Is that what you'd do? Odd. I would have thought that we should wait and actually see what happens before we man the barricades chanting 'Hell no! We won't accept your unmade verdict and possible sanctions that we don't know what they will be but we hate them anyway'.

Fantastic stuff, RL.

I would like you to send this to Schwab and tell him that the only person(s) to speak at the press conference following whatever the AFL think they want to do to us should be the MFC members/supporters who have been trodden on constantly and for him to read that post.

The post speaks to me, and it speaks for me.

We are nobody's patsy.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
