Why wouldn't we wait to sign him as a delisted free agent???

My only thought the trade could be Pick 4 for for Rodan, Pick 7 & one of their 2nd round picks?

Gives them a shot at Toumpas or Grundy and gives us a shot at landing Ray or Pedersen?

Good get I think. The fact we aren't spending picks or players to get him and that he is probably on minimal money makes this a great pick up. Can play a role up forward next to Byrnes and hopefully his body holds up so that he can string some games together. Adds experience and skill and he could potentially be a specialist sub.

He's a proven AFL player that's getting a little long in the tooth.

If anything, he's bound to create competition for spots in the seniors and that is a good thing.

This is the 1st time in this draft period that I worry the FD is going too far the other way in bringing in experienced players, someone is going to miss out playing next year would rather see Taggert, Evans or Nicholson given more game time.

Not costing us anything, and though he's been injured/maligned he's not te worst player around. Don't really see the harm

In this.

Ridiculous..... A waste of a draft pick or even a spot on our list...

Obviously we need someone to increase our profile on The Footy Show player's revue!!

Hey that's original!

Strange to see a coach drafting mature aged players for a change. After going through the Bailey years where he was hell bent in getting rid of everyone experienced and refusing to draft over the age of 25, this could be just the stimulus we need to rise up the ladder.

Posted

Is anyone else thinking he could become a super sub specialist?!?

We could do a lot worse than bring his energy and explosiveness into the middle of the ground during a 4th quarter... He's a hard man to tackle to the ground.

We could look at it as a quicker replacement for Moloney?

And after the first 5 minutes of the first game he plays and his knee/hammy goes, who do we replace him with?

Posted

But why the urgency? Why not wait until he is a delisted free agent?

tis what I am thinking.

I assume PA caught wind of what we were doing and said 'we don't ahve to delist him, and then you won't be able to secure him until draft day...'

And we say - here is a draft pick we won't use.

Pick 63 or 70 is my guess.

You would imagine our last pick for their last + rodan?

Surely they cant demand anything

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
