Well mods can move it to the other forum if more appropriate but its about the number, not whom, well not really.

A little light entertainment and brevity amongst the doom and gloom.

Pick a number any number. That number is from the net change to our list from 2012 to 2013.

Keep in mind there are NO rookies in 2013. Currentlyu there are 46 players. next year there will only be 40 ( I think this is right, feel free to correct me )

So I think the logical way to call this is how many names from the total list(s) will remain on the list for 2013.

Im going with 31 players will be the same

I'll go for (10)

#edit: From >

Aaron Davey (retire)

Brad Green (Retiring)

Matthew Bate (Trade)

Jamie Bennell (possible rerookie)

Liam Jurrah ?

Brent Moloney F/A

Cale Morton (Trade)

Ricky Petterd (Trade)

Jared Rivers F/A

Stefan Martin (Poss' Trade)

--------------

*Alternates: Bartram? Dunn?

My early predictions at the start of the year were around the 8-9 mark I think. Since then we've seen some players really underperform and lost Jurrah and Moloney, both of whom I had as certainties to keep. It changes things.

Can I have this in NEON please..There are NO ROOKIES IN 2013

There is to be ONE list....just one per club. No more rookies and Vets will be included in the 40 ( just treated differently re the cap )

cheers

So now tell me if I am wrong but are you saying there are no rookies anymore? lol just kidding

My number would be 30

Surely we can't get rid of more than 10!?! You people realize we have to fill each spot on the list? So we'd essentially be using super late draft picks and loading up on long-shot kids if we can't buy heaps of players? Not going to happen.

I presume we are talking main list only, rookie list doesn't much bother me.

Green, Moloney, Jurrah, Bate

Morton if possible

Any 4 of: Bartram, Bennell, Cook, Davis, Fitzpatrick, Macdonald, Petterd, Spencer, I see little future in any of them. 8 would do me.

Rookie upgrades for a start. Nicholson needs to be brought in. Evans might be as well. I could see Magner and Couch being used as well, although that might be a bit premature. Williams will need more time, but he looks like he could well be worth it next year. Not only would upgrading some of these guys allow us to use them more freely, it would free up rookie spots for more mature-aged state-league players we want to look at. And yes, there will be a rookie list next year.

I can see the club looking at the WAFL , SANFL and/or the VFL if we're caught short . It may be a better option than picking up an 18yo at number 60 odd or higher . We've already gone down this path a bit with Magner and Couch as rookies . Some harder more mature players might be better 'depth' solutions . And they won't cost much in salary .

Just a fail-safe method if we de-list 10 or 12 and aren't able to bring in enough talent through free agency and/or trades (in October) .

They work their assess off on/off the track and in the games too as they generally know it is their first and last chance of playing AFL.

i reckon were about the mark. Theres a 'trim' and there's a 'cull' . I cant see that Neeld can , or indeed would bother with a trim. There has to be a major clearout of all non essential players.. Some are clogging, some have clagged !!

Delist

Moloney

Jurrah

Green

Cook

Bate

MacDonald

Petterd

Dunn

Spencer?

Davis?

Trade

Martin

Gysberts

Morton (good luck)

FA

Rivers

Rookies

Magner

Couch

Lawrence

Williams

Bartram (retire or to rookie list)

Bennell (rookie list or delist)

Could see Spencer getting another contract and maybe Dunn (choke)

I'm going for 11 plus rookies

Davey has a year to run on his contract. No way he'll retire with 4 mouths to feed. 2013 will be his last.

Rivers was excellent all season in multiple positions. MFC would be mad not to try and retain him at this stage of our development. He is one of the level headed senior players worth hanging onto for at least another 2 years.

10 will go.

4 already gone plus Bate, Bennell, Morton, Davis delisted,

2 will get traded Petterd + one other mauybe Martin maybe Gysberts

Be prepared for 2013 to be just as bad or worse than 2012. If Jones & Clarke don't play 20 games and maintain or build on their form from this year we will be uncompetitive against 15 sides and probably evens with the other 2...AGAIN

You sure or am I misunderstanding this ?

I think the change is only to maximum & minimum numbers ie 6 maximum & no minimum. Meaning you can have none if you choose.

Anyway I reckon 8.

Thing is I was sure I read that there where to be no rookies.

I only searched it to see what main list size would be.

so had I.

anyhow :)

The game sort of remains the same I suppose in that we started this year with a list of 46. By thge time the dust settles we will have a new list of ( an unsure number..lol ) and between them only an amount will be the same. I predict that number to be 31 . The scythe will be messy ;)

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
