Who said trade week would be uneventful ;)

If he plays this week and i have a suspicion he might, as part of the clubs new exit strategy then might we drop him off on the way home ?

Better trade off Clark, Jones, and Howe quick sticks!!

They've all had good years, so we can't risk them being out of form next year.

They're all "one trick ponies"... Clark ONLY kicks goals, Jones ONLY wins the ball, and Howe ONLY takes marks.

They're all "flat track bullies"... I bet their stats were better when we won than when we lost...

Oh and whoever wins the BnF should be delisted immediately cos we all know they'll suffer the curse and be out or form next year.

We're much better off having no one over 20 on our list and winning the draft picks premiership every year.

Go Dees! Top 4 on the draft ladder AGAIN! Woo!

Our club and fans are never ever loyal to our players, so why should they give a stuff about us?

As sad reflection on the culture of our football club. I live in hope that things are changing. But old habits die hard.

If we had a choice & forgetting loyalty for a minute....who would you take based on most current form....

Beamer or Boak?

The stats for 2012 as per below...

Hope Beamer stays but the game may have passed him speed wise..

I agree Stuie....If we listened to DL's on this site,we would have delisted the whole list....I might have to pull on the old jumper myself and play at CHF......I'm sure I would do better than Jack Watts(I have the weight)....I would be better than Lucas COOK..(I have more weight).....I would be better than Beamer. (I am taller).....I would be better than Blease...(I have more experience).....Gee this is easy.....

You've played as many senior games as Cook and Viney too, so we better not have them on the list next year...

AFAIK, he can, but Port would be stupid to do so.

.......so he is definitely off to Port then !!???

Port looking to climb down the ladder then.

Good luck to Moloney whatever happens, always liked him, but his time as an effective footballer is over.

Brent Moloney IMO didn't quite make it to the heights of what we thought he was capable. I wouldn't be perturbed if he stayed or went though if fully fit would prefer the stay option. An observation is he seems to have built up so much to the extent has lost some flexibility. Similar bulild to Tappy.

Fair enough. Different from what i was given from last year.

His form for the entire season 2013 has been almost non existent so i don't know why he bothered. Should have taken the offer.

Beautifully put although it's the same for all AFL players at this time.

(I know what you meant, but your use of "2013" and "non existent" in the same sentence was just too good to ignore.)

On topic, if he wants to leave he should do so; if he wants to stay, I'd keep him only if he has bought into the Neeld plan.

With all the atlk about Moloney we seem to have forgotten Dunn and Rivers both are free agents.

I would be surprised if they agents are not looking for better options.

Contrary to most I think Dunn would be a loss and Rivers is heading for what maybe his last contract.

Of all three I think he would have the most currency would be a very handy player in a good team.

I reckon he is on the move or wants more than the MFc wants to pay.

This is Rivers last chance for Finals glory he will not get it at the MFC.

Any thoughts?

I am really torn with this one. I have really liked Brent over the time he has been at Melbourne; almost breathed a sigh of relief when I saw him listed each week as he was always so reliable, tough and a leader on the ground.

His form this year ... well, I will not repeat what has already been said.

He looks too bulked up - almost as though he is hitting the gym and protein shakes a bit too much. Perhaps thats why he has slowed down. I don't know... I have always seen him staying around at Melbourne until his time is up. But maybe his heart is not beating red and blue anymore.

Oh I would be devastated if we lost Jared Rivers. I really hope he re-signs. I heard on the weekend that Geelong were interested in him. He is such a reliable player - always been one of my favorites. I tend to agree with you about Dunn as well.

Given Beamer "hasn't be able to adapt" it's hard to see how Neeld would justify keeping him? How many more games are you going to give a bloke on the downside of his career to pick up a game plan? Keeping him and playing him at Casey next year is a waste of his and the MFC's time.

Having said that I'll still be a bit shocked if he goes, two out two most recent Bluey holders gone

Was just as interested in Neelds comments in the article about Colin who like Dunn seems to have won a reprieve and might even be considered a candidate for the leadership group next year? I read it twice and that's what I got out of it anyway!

Posted

i dont understand why Neeld doesnt try him in another position? I haven't watched many melbourne games this year because in adelaide they only show them on days port or crows arent playing. If he's only put him in the mid why not try up forward? Maybe even down back but he'd probly be too slow for a defender. We'll be missing Green next year so i think its a good opportunity to put up a 1 year contract and play him forward.

He was actually told at the beginning of the year to lose weight. The FD intention was to be able to run, run, run and they believed that some of the players were too bulky to be able to achieve the distances that were required.

Can we get this right......Some say we need runners to improve our spread.....others say we need bigger bodies to get the ball in a pack...Beamer to big in the body....Moton....Watts....Cook....too skinny....Geezzz....I'm confused....

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
