Condemned84 have you consider finding a new past time?

Sport does not look like a good idea.

Try the ballet, the theatre or Music mate

I know, but I can't stop....it's horrible!

oopphh Rangers is just the kick in the nuts after being poked in the eyes, had your hair pulled and punched in the nose.

I'm in the stage where everything is laughable.

Welcome aboard American Demon .

A few unwritten rules ...

1 - Learn to snow ski

2 - Drink Chardonnay

3 - Get yourself a Range Rover

4 - Practice phrases such as "Who's that big chap in the no.9 geurnsey ?

5 - Talk about 'Our Window of Opportunity' . It's currently 2015 . Next year it will be 2016 .

6 - If you have any sport(s) jackets , gets some leather patches on the elbows .

Cheers

Hey, i already know how to ski! And I enjoy chardonnay! I've heard this stereotype a few times for Demons fans, how true is it? Are there a lot of rich upper-class Demon fans?

Absolutely Not AD

I can assure you I am not and neither are the majority of demon fans.

However there are more than a few who do fit the description

Macca was just having a joke with you.

After the season we have had it seems for most of us Humour is the only escape

Thats what I assumed, just double checking! It's funny since I started learning about the AFL i've found ever team has stereotypes. Western Bulldogs-scrappy team, bad luck Richmond-what we could call over here, white trash. North Melb-no one seems to know enough supporters to figure out what they are. Collingwood- Inbred. I feel like i've learned a lot haha

Yeah , 'old dee' summed it up well . All the clubs have these perceived idiocyncracies . It's just a bit of good natured banter .

Btw , and I think I speak for most Demon fans - We hate Essendon , Carlton and Collingwood (not necessarily in that order!) . We also have a fantastic finals record against those 3 teams .

On this site we cover all the big 4 USA sports and we've got a general discussion area where we've got music threads , a bit of comedy and topical subjects concerning various World events . Just click on 'Demonland Forums' above to go into those areas . We've even got a cricket thread !

Who do we hate the most? Do we have a big rival team?

Well , for me it's Collingwood but it might be Essendon . Schadenfreude is alive and well amongst a few of us . We sometimes venture over to 'Bomberblitz' and watch the meltdown . Some of us are probably over there now :)

Welcome AD. Lived in NY for a couple of years in the '70's. Have followed the Dees for 60 years and, unlike most here, have actually seen them win 4 flags.

Hang tough 'cause I think we're on the road to glory once again - they've got to win one more before I croak.

The old school members who were around during the 60s think we have a rivalry with Collingwood, but they couldn't give a toss about us: they're a big club and these days we are a little one. It had meaning 50 years ago when we would routinely meet them in finals, but these days it's less of a rivalry and more of a case of tall poppy syndrome.

I think i've got an odd thing about picking favorite teams, that tend to not be overly successful. My favorite NFL team hasn't won an NFL championship (they did win one championship in a now defunct league though!) My favorite soccer team is Tottenham Hotspur who i've supported for 13 years now and haven't seen them win anything. My favorite baseball team hasn't won anything since the year after I was born...I'm accustomed to pain.

This is a feeling I get....

Melbourne Demons, Charlotte Bobcats, Wigan Athletic, New York Jets.... All I feel is pain.

So is there anyone currently who would be considered a current rival? Sorry for the questions, I just want to learn about the club haha

AD our biggest rival is winning at present....

I'm an A's fan (because of the Aussie green and gold colours) and don't see them winning anything EVER again but they were fun to watch with the drugged up bash brothers and Ricky H stealing everything in site.

Welcome aboard AD.....

Where abouts in the States do you live.....my wife is from Florida, and we return yearly...have a step daugther living in Portland.....

As to our biggest current rival......its funny....traditionally and Historically, it has always been the Filth (Collingwood)...but in the last decade or so it is now the Scum (Essendon).....tho personal hatreds will always bleed thru for different people...

Welcome to the club.......

Oh, and as for teams over there that I support, have had a bit of luck in the last few years.....Patriots in the NFL, Bruins in the NHL and Sox in the MLB......dont really follow NBA.......

Maybe we could set up a trade with the Jets for Tim Tebow? We could package up Morton and sell him as the aussie version of Tebow or Jeremy Lin.

Hey all, i'm an American footy fan, and last year, I decided to support the Demons. Partially because I am a fan of Hamish and Andy, and heard Hamish was a Dees supporter, but more so, because of the rich history of the club, Jim Stynes, and a few players I really liked. I was so pumped to watch my first game as a Dees fan, I woke up at 3 AM to watch Melbourne get thumped by West Coast, haha not a very good start to me being a Demons fan.

So at the time I became a fan, I sent an email to the Demons, asking a question about something related to the club. Anyway, I never heard back from them, till earlier this month. I got an email back from a representative of the club, who thanked me for my support of the club, and said that to make up for a slow reply, they sent me this. Got here today, and I'm way excited. It made me love the club even more. I honestly didn't even expect to hear back from them, let alone have them offer to send me something. Sorry if this post was kind of stupid, I just wanted to share my excitement with someone, and i'm the only AFL fan I know in my state haha.

Welcome to hell on earth. If cant get much worse than it is, so if you get passed this horror stretch, you may have something to brighten up your footy side of life in a few years.

I had someone come over here,a few times. before she made the trip, there were a few requirements to be met.

1st was, if she barracked for Collingwood, (the filth) dont bother coming. Her 1st game, we went to a nab cup game, Melb V Essendon, she left hating them too, so I knew she had the right idea. So then I did a trade off, and now keep an eye on the Cheeseheads.

Well our 3 most hated teams (arguably) have all lost this weekend . If we win tomorrow I might start believing that our newest member ('American Demon') is a good luck charm .

We may need more 'Sign-ups' from the 'Land of the free' !

Welcome! Please don't get weak legs on the journey that is being a Melbourne supporter!

I hope you can make it to Melbourne one day and REALLY learn what footy is about! You don't know the start of it!! I've sat near Americans at the MCG a few times before and am always fascinated to hear what they think of the game. One of the real joys of footy, it's like they have just been born into the world.

Also, spread the red and blue word. Hopefully you can give the game a name there as too many people here are into American sports these days

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
