Saw Silvagni at a Restaurant last night and nearly wanted to ask him how Tom was going and who they were taking 1,2 & 3.

I have this strong feeling that GWS will take Whitfield, Toumpas and Wines. I wouldn't be surprised if we picked O'Rourke or Macrae.

Knightmare has us picking O'Rourke. There is still a lot to choose from with Stringer, Grundy, Mayes, Kennedy and Menzel.

I have this feeling that since GWS will be delivered Tippett on a plate, free of charge, they may now not opt for Grundy. That puts Wines at risk.

Youd be forgiven for thinking we just cant take a trick.

Prior to Trade week it all seemed so logical, the air was sweet and all was right with the world.

Lesson: never take ANYTHING for granted, enjoy each day as it comes.

Fingers crossed :)

If Wines is available at 4 I'd pretty much put my house on it that he'll be a Demon. 1- He's exactly the type Neeld loves & 2- He wants to be a Demon.

Once again I will reiterate that the fact is the club will definitely pick Oliver Wines at 4 if available.

Fact.

If he's not available the club will pick up a mid and not a ruckman.

Fact.

Cheers,

Hells Gates.

Plus Brogan has signed on for another year.

Hopefully wines indicates to gws that he wants to stay in Vic.

We all have this love for Wines because he wants to be at MFC, he's Jacks mate and he fits the Neeld mould. We also had the same love for Watts and Scully before draft time. Whoever we pick and have the love for never or rarely live up to the expections we thust upon them.

If just maybe we miss on Wines the next likely mid O'Rourke may very well turn out a better player. O'Rourke is an inside and outside mid with exquisite skills. A beautiful kick and a good decision maker. Has great pace and the ability to burst away from packs. They say he is a better kick than Wines. Because MFC have a history of picking the wrong player maybe if it's taken out of their hands they may end up with a diamond instead of a cubic zirconia.

EQ on SEN this morning implied that GWS would take Whitfield, Toumpas and Menzel at 1, 2, 3, with Grundy to slip as far as 7. She stated that Menzel had the potential to be the best player in this draft as he can break a game and that a team like GWS with so many high picks would probably see him as worth the risk.

This makes sense. Inside Football had O'Rourke going at 3 and Grundy slipping to 7. I can't see GWS taking Wines. They have a lot of this type already and they can't play them all.

Not once did Scully say he wanted to come to Melbourne.

He had a difficult, moody disposition when interviewed and his face only lit up when it was a possibility he might get picked up by Richmond.

This bloke is / was poison and may cost the club its future.

you can surely have mongrel in you without being a bogan mate, it's hardly hollier than thou

I want us to have mongrel in our play, tatts or not. I don't care about tatts, & I don't care if players wear them. I don't myself.

But I was having a shot at some, who turn away from players with tatts, like they're the devil incarnate.

Mark my words, Wines will be a star! Appears very switched on with a good head on his shoulders, a real blue chip player. If the dees can land him I will be over the moon.

His "Pick me" interview via the Hun reminds me of the American NFL draft pick #1 and current quarterback star Peyton Manning. Please note the comparisons.

Interviews:

Wines via Hun as previously discussed.

http://www.heraldsun...f-1226509826657

NFL fraft bust about Ryan Leaf, but see his comparison with Manning (then compare Wines with Manning, very similar attitutes and work ethic).

Please Football God just do one thing for the Dees this year, give us Wines, we've had a bad year surely we deserve some good fortune.

Its more likely that GWS will risk an offie with their third pick. Wines will be available at pick 4. It wasnt that long ago when it was thought that Toumpas would also be. That now appears pretty unlikely.

No chance of GWS opting for Lachie Plowman at 3? They seriously lack defensive class, even if LP is a tad short to play at CHB.

I beg to differ on Scully, he's going to deliver to the MFC two champions in Hogan and Wines that will serve us well on the path to the promised land.

Given Wines affection for Viney he'd be a flight risk for GWS in two years should they take him. So they won't.

That's if we don't lose the lot.

Much will be played out before this club starts healing.....if it can sustain the pressure.

Depends if pick 4 is taken, I am trying my best not to get my hopes up until Nov. 19th.

In regards to this, it's not exactly the case so far it's Scully + 2011 pick 12 for Mitch Clark (freed money in the salary cap) + Dom Barry, Chris Dawes, and Hogan (or more technically pick 4 over Hogan). Without his departure non of these would of been possible.

I don't mean to sound contrary, but she didn't say that at all. She said Menzel had top 3 talent and would go anywhere from 3-12. You can also see one of her tweets from today where she refers to him going to GWS at 3 as a "chance" when asked the question.

You've read far too much into her comments. ON BF someone said the same as you and perhaps this is your info. That poster has also been corrected.

I will dead set chuck a spaz attack if we miss out on Wines

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
