His attitude, from the point of view of a supporter sitting in the stands, is disgusting.

He infuriates me every game with his pointing, and his laziness, and then his general poor play.

I was thrilled to see him subbed off, and I hope it's a permanent one.

For someone who apparently "bleeds Red and Blue" and grew up a Melbourne supporter, he sure doesn't look like he's interested in being around anymore.

If I was Nathan Jones, I'd punch him one.

Moloney has always barked instructions. It's usually been because he's been too lazy to do the work himself.

now his bark is worse than his bite !!

You are becoming quite sedate now Jaded. It took you 5 lines to suggest a violent solution this time.

it's very sad to see what's become of beamer this year.

i honestly wonder whether or not he'll want a fresh opportunity himself.

he could easily find a spot in our midfield, in port adelaide's midfield, gc17, gws, footscray's midfield - but the thing to note is that they're all the bottom sides.

he's not a top tier midfielder.

The simple minded people on here give me the shits.

Yes he has had a bad year, but how about understanding the game before commenting on it.

Last year, and the years before that he has been completely 100% an inside midfielder. This year, Neeld either see's him as more of an outsider, or trying to develop his game, hence why he has been playing less as an insider, and not playing as well.

This is what happened to Mclean, Bailey wanted to change his roles, it didn't suit, he left.

I'm hoping this isn't the same and we see Beamer stay. We need some senior blokes around, and when he's on his game, he's one of our best

If you've played the game, you'd know that if your set up around the contest isn't perfect the opposition can tare you a new one. He is simply helping the team set up. Im sure you would see every other midfielder in the game do a similar thing.

oh thats why he stands around pointing and barkling orders....right... thanks for that

thats all well and good ....if....IF...youre actuallyu doing your own job first. He ISNT !! grow some eyes mate

Remember 186 and his role in it. Unfortunately he is playing worse than his peers in a very poor midfield. Jones keeps getting better, the kids are improving and will continue to do so. Moloney isn't and won't.

Experienced players are needed, but only if they add to the team. This year he hasn't and therefore let him go.

Beamer, you know you are a dreamer

Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no

I said, "Beamer, you're nothing but a beamer"

Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no

I said "Far out, what a day, a year, a laugh it is"

You know, well you know you had it comin' to you

Now there's not a lot I can do

Beamer, you stupid little Beamer

So now you put your head in your hands, oh no

I said "Far out, what a day, a year, a laugh it is"

Now there's not a lot I can do

Besides, that [censored] Roos couldn't pet name him....he's not a Mummy, or a Goodsy, or a Kirky.

Maybe a Brento? Brenty? Nah.....

Following the usual line of diminutives wouldn't it have to be Molonie?

You're right, nah

One thing that strikes me, though, is that the main arguments for keeping him are based on sentiment (he was good once, we can't just throw him away etc) or experience. But doesn't FA change the experience horizon? We can just buy in experience now, or at least very soon. So the question is probably more about whether Moloney is a better option than whoever else might be available.

He seems stuck struggling with the new regime.

He need to have a revelation, accept the new demands/roles at Melb (if indeed he has been struggling with these) in the next two weeks...

Or leave.

He's not alone in this regard, I'd put Col in the same boat (with fewer B&F credits to his name).

It's a pity that Moloney's decent 2011 was the exception to his career, rather than the rule.

Like Jose Mourinho, I was very critical of Moloney at the start of 2011, particularly before R1 against the Swans. He played very well that day and I was forced to eat my words to a degree. Unfortunately, he then went about beating up on kids for the rest of the season and often went missing when we needed him.

I marked his cards about three years ago when he missed a few weeks through injury or suspension (can't recall which) before returning against Carlton. We were in with a sniff against the Blues that day until Moloney gave away a couple of ludicrous free kicks trying to be a hard man. Those indiscretions swung the momentum Carlton's way and the game was gone. I said then and there that I didn't care if he ever played for Melbourne again.

He has since been a handy player at times, and even excellent in some games, but nothing has substantively changed the opinion I formed that day. I wish I could say otherwise.

If Essendon want Caddy and Gold Coast want older midfielders and we want KP forwards, is the following a workable trade?

  • Moloney to Gold Coast
  • Caddy to Essendon
  • Bellchambers / Gumbleton / Hooker (?) to Melbourne

I can't speak much of Essendon's talls. But I know they have a few with ability and I know they are jostling to hold down spots.

Moloney not being on our list is the only thing I like about that^.

Why the F would we take Gumbleton on?

Is that a joke?

moloney was told to trim down by neeld and misson. didn't listern to a word and is now paying the price for it. his own doing why his form is shite!

IMO I highly doubt the Bombers would offload Gumbleton. They've invested a fair bit of time and resources into getting his body right and he seems to be repaying back the faith shown. I don't think he's going anywhere.

Nor Bellchambers, who will be their no.1 ruck for the next 7 years.

Hooker ... ahh, no thanks.

Agree, I wouldn't want the other two either.

Don't want to deal with Bombers at all.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
