Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Primus - A warning sign to Neeld

What kind of KPIs are those?

What is we have an injury curse as bad as the one that has taken our forward line to the medical clinic in Prahran that everyone goes to?

Neeld will be given time and I think that improvement should be expected but let's not be stupid enough to set hard and fast rules that tie us into ending (or even continuing) tenures.

They will have internal KPIs that will be important and you have to trust the board to make the right decision - if you don't trust the board well grab a few mates and go for election to the board - they are there for a reason.

Lets see how far the 'injury' card gets Ratten when he meets the board at seasons end. He won't be there in 2013.

Also "what kind of KPI's are winning games"?

Have our supporters totally lost the plot? Its like telling a sales person that sales don't matter as long as the effort is there.

If we can't win 5 games and keep our losses to a minimum in 2013 then I won't be the only member demanding answers from the board.

I reckon Neeld will revolutionise Melbourne and be the turning point in our history, he may not be the coach who takes us all the way (or he might) but he will change the way we approach football and for the better.

Interesting idea. Example of his approach (and also a good example of his difference to other regimes) is his refusal to play players such as Cook when they're not ready in his mind for AFL, his preparedness to drop senior players, his preparedness to risk getting on their wrong side (i reckon the first coach since Northey who has taken on the senior cartel in an meaningful way) and his focus on his non negotiables (i'd love to know what they are) he expects of his players.

The demons needed a new approach and a shake up from the ground up and from what i've seen thus far Neelds the man for the job.

And he needs time to do this, there are some who seem to think we should appoint a coach on an annual basis with a review every 6 months.

We haven't had to take one step back to go two forward we've had to go back a kilometre before we can advance a centimetre, we actually have to turn the club in to a real football club not a social club.

This will take time but when we get it right we will be proud of the result and I guess we haven't had much of that for a long time at Melbourne. I've followed the club for decades and we've been crap for the majority of that time and the reason seems to be that we've always had the attitude that near enough is good enough and that's flowed down from the leadership group to the new recruits.

I doubt it's your forelock you've been tugging.

We all tug forelocks from time to time.

I knew a guy that tugged his fore until it unlocked!

Painful, but the Osteo got it sorted. He still can't walk straight but that's the price you pay.

Coot, are you suggesting that this club follow basketcase Pork Powder in a race to the bottom?

The warning for Neeld is don't be crap? Don't be employed by a club that refuses to give you any FD or recruiting money or full say in list management? Don't be employed by a club that expects chicken salad after giving you chicken [censored] as your main ingredient? Don't accept a two year deal as a rookie coach? Don't be the first coach to lose to both start up sides?

Plenty of prophetic warnings for Neeld there, Nostradamus. Hopefully the MFC board don't have the same delusions of granduer as the Port board (& presumably you) & Neeld is judged on his 3 years.

Do people who make these asinine suggestions even think about the consequences? If the MFC board was to sacrifice another coach at the altar next year, would there be any credible coach interested in taking the reigns at our own basketcase? Quite frankly, you would be worried about anyone who was interested.

The AFL would just about shut us down.

What about "don't run off to the change rooms when the game's still on just because you're too much of a sook to take it all?" That's some good advice too.

Somebody raised earlier the idea of getting Primus to the club as a ruck coach or specialist coach?

I thought I would just remind everyone that Primus was already at our club from 2004 - 2008, and quite successful during that period of time as well, contributing plenty of $$ - as our major sponsor!!!

We might need to get 'Primus' back next year if our one-year sponsors decide not to stick around. .

Just getting some humour rolling. .

I actually think that was his way of showing the playing group just how poor they were. He knew he was gone, the only ones that could do anything about it are the players and they showed absolutely nothing. Staying in the box implied that he was in control when he clearly felt that he wasn't.

Good luck to them now. Maybe Bandicoot and co could sign up as Port members. I think they'll enjoy the next few years of sticking the boots into the new coach.

I couldn't help but feel sorry for primus. He knew he was done and to sit there and watch his own career go up in flames would have been torture. I would of kept walking straight to a bottle shop. Daniher was right footy sucks sometimes.

Very sadly IMO Neeld will harbour the same "done" feeling towards the end of next year. Footy does suck sometimes. Yes sure he will see out 2013 but will need more than 6 wins to continue on IMO!!

Given Neeld has not improved the state of play and If Malthouse was up for it and ready to sign then we'd be crazy not to get him in 2014. Boards come and go as well. Am sure Malthouse would prefer a clean slate....

yes! You seriously think Neeld is Melbourne FC's saviour? If that's true better start looking for another club to follow! He deserves to coach it out to end of 2013 and lets see if he's any good or just hot air.

In news just in. Thaipantsman doesn't think Neeld is much chop and unless he improves on 6 wins will be axed at or near the end of 2013. In his opinion Neeld will 'harbour the same "done" feeling towards the end of next year"that Primus just has

In more news on that subject Binman advises internet fan site Demonland that he is prepared to bet Neeld will be coaching at the dees in 2014. Wager? If bet accepted and he loses Binman will cease posting on Demonland. If on the other hands he win anyone taking the bet will stop posting on Demonland

Takers?

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
