Richmond's Dan Connors and Dustin Martin in trouble

Recommended Posts

I drink and paretake in the odd line of recreation when the moment is right.

Live life to the max. These guys are now programmed robots.

Yes, but you're not an professional sportsman, at an elite level.

Some of these posts surprise me. I don't know that people are quite grasping just what it takes at this level, and in particular, what it takes in terms of work, training and preparation. One missed recovery session can be enough to (seriously) impact on how you run out a game. Or not.

I know a couple of pro and ex-pro sportsmen in other sports, and it's no different. It's a 24/24, 7/7 commitment, just to get that 1/2 percent extra that will make the difference.

I know all that. But the media treats it like they have killed and maimed people. Its over the top.

So goodbye Liam Jurrah then??

Thats up to the club...they make the rules.

Connors was on his thrid strike... he new it...and paid....that was their rules...and those that he had agreed to..

Jurrah has more to worry about from a higher judiciary than the club.

Jurrah's fate will come from the judicial law, not the club. But he certainly went home with intent, so i don't like his chances personally.

People on here talk as if he will get off with a warning. Can't see it myself.

I will be amazed if the jurrah pulls on a match day jumper again.

Strangely I dont think Connors career is necessarily over. ...Might depend how far hes prepared to travel..lol

Heard that before he pulled on his last match day jumper when he proved most in the media and many on here wrong. Let it play out and see what happens.

Sure. But he went up there for a reason, and its not hard to work out what for.

No it's not hard to work out, he went up there because his partners sister had died. Let's not write anything more into it, the year has been hard enough as it is.

And it's not hard to work it out wrongly. Who knows? Hadn't his sister-in-law just died? Foolish to guess. Cultural knowledge and evidence required, both for what happened and motivation if it did.

WYL you are barking up the wrong tree if you are suggesting there was any premeditation or that he was looking for trouble by going there

FCS he had been 'home' many times before AFTER the 'troubles' had started. This was just another trip home and because his sister in law died

What happened then we don't know the details

He told the club he was innocent of the charges

We'll just have to wait for the trial and even then I doubt we will know all the 'truth'

I agree with you DC

But I am cynical enough to say he would say that would he not.

I have a bad feeling about this whole episode.

It would complete a perfect 2012 if it goes the wrong way.

a funeral, as I remember it being said at the time. you know better than that do you?

none of us has any idea what went on. the court will make a serious effort to establish that. why have any of us the presumption to anticipate (in our near-total ignorance) what the court will find? what motive can we possibly have for speculating along these lines, given that he is one of our favourite players?

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
