Jake Spencer

Has never played a good game. Is an absolute liability in the ruck and even worse around the ground.

Surely knowing Jamar may have been sore it would have been a better option to play Cook, have Martin ruck with relief from Dunn or Sellar.

I know Cook is only just starting to get consistent games in and develop his body and they don't want to gift games but this is just ridiculous.

Spencer is just horrendous.

Dumb thread.

ill be dissapointed if Cook is thrown to the wolves this year.

We arent going to be winning any flags this year, Spencer got his run, no big deal.

Least Neeld gave him a crack.

On todays game, Couch will get his turn, now Magner seems to of stagnated.

What is there to develop?

I normally am not one for potting players but he is easily the worst player I have every seen at an AFL level.

What is there to develop? I just can't see anything that makes me think this kids can make it. Am I missing something?

Reckon Magner is just worn out, he's been worked into the ground this year, needs a chop out

A couple of weeks ago some on here were giving that mantle to Sellar. If he is going to make it there's no sense in playing him at Casey, if he's not then let's see what he's got.

I'm sure Cook would have been the difference today; big mistake not to play him. Tongue in cheek there for those that think I'm serious.

Robbie, just think it is a bad throw back to the early rebuild days of just giving games away.

I don't see how he can be anything other than a tap ruck man, he just seems utterly incapable of having any feel for reading the game. This can be taught at Casey, can't see how he will learn it at an AFL level.

We were hamstrung all day by his selection from the first bounce, there is nowhere to hide this bloke.

Yes, very harsh on young Spencer. Give the kid a chance! Gee, am I glad our selectors aren't as short sighted as Grandson of a Gun.

We need to find out who can and who can't play as this year is a write off; he's been on the list for about 4 years or more and if he can't play then we will delist him at year's end but we need to know exactly what he's capable of, or not.

We don't have many tall's available and there was no one else to play.

Grandson of what gun

A missed directed shot

Spence was OK today and had a dip

More than can be said of more than half the team

who is the Grand dad anyway, I am sure he would be horrified in your totally harsh and unreasonable assessment

i spent years bagging Bate and Miller, listening to the experts with their 'give him a go' the faith was repaid with them wasnt it

if spencer ever plays a good game i will streak nude at the G

You're not even a three year member on this board yet junior! Where were those 'years' spent bagging Bate and Miller?

Get your hand off it.

I ask those who are having a go to explain why it is a dumb thread?

He has been on the list 4 years. He is behind Jamar, Martin, Gawn when all fit.

He does not regularly win or dominate the ruck duels at AFL or even VFL level.

He is immobile. He does not win the ball around the ground or even impose himself on the game.

I know he's had a knee reco however he also showed very little pre-knee.

And how is suggesting cook play being short sighted?

I agree it is gifting a game perhaps however Spencer wasn't doing much at VFL level either.

He is a liability on the ground and nothing has changed in 4 years.

Pot me if you will but produce a quality counter argument in doing it at least.

I haven't been on demonland for that long but was the same said about Russian that is being said about Spencer now? He isn't up to it now but bloody hell give him a chance. What if cook played and stunk it up? I imagine the pre first game love we have for him would have us all saying give him a chance.

Just answered your own question. Martin and Spencer were our only ruckmen available, and one of them would have to drift forward with there being no Clark.

There was no choice, he had to play.

No he didn't. Cook could have played forward.

Martin the starting ruck and relieved when needed by Sellar or Dunn even.

A permanent forward target would have been nice today wouldn't it?

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
