We have none of it. From anyone. Media, other supporters and most importantly other afl clubs.

Why? Because we haven't earned any.

And I hate it.

But what I also hate is that we don't seem to give a frick.

We need to start earning it by playing hard, tough, accountable footy, and not being out smashed at 4am Sunday morning like a player who shall remain nameless.

Or smiling when we've just lost by 8 goals.

It's killing me

Ever since we got that new club emblem we have been ordinary, maybe its the 'southern cross' curse, rather than the 'Norm Smith Curse'?

No. We were ordinary for years before the new Emblem. I still believe the jigsaw is being carefully reassembled.

A jigsaw is always a mess when first started.

Sounds positive. the bloke that knows Matty Bate reckons the younger players are pretty upbeat about things.

Even if we begin winning, it will take years to earn respect. A combination of losses, lack of money over the years & 2nd oldest premiership drought, has resulted in this situation.

We sit amongst the bottom 4. In everyones mind, thats where we belong indefinitely.

Brad Scott was the guest On The Couch this week. He basically said the competition was so even that with the exception of the two expansion clubs and Melbourne, any team can beat you on their day.

I'd almost take just the one win this season as long as it was against North. But the point is, we are grouped with the two newcomers in terms of competitiveness. Below Port and Brisbane.

We've never been less respected. The good news is, the only way us up.. baby.

He is right. Nobody can hide at all now. And that is a good thing in the long term.

If we do not show some dramatic improvement in 2013 I fear there will not be one

We'll be fine.

We will improve in 2013, there will be ups and downs forever more and the will be an MFC forever more.

The saddest part about all of this P Man, is that Brad scott is absolutely correct.

We have to pin our hopes on something old dee, or all will be lost ........ and like rpfc, I refuse to believe that is the case. Just like the players who will run out onto the SCG on Saturday, we need to have belief.

Just an aside...as an example of the 'popular'view.. gold Fm.. they have this quiz.. Lads v Gals.. its was quiped that the Boys were getting done...and that they didnt want to be the' Melbourne' of this game.. i.e LOSERS !!!!!!!!!!!

peopel...you canslice and dice it any way you like but thats how the world looks upon us right now.. As a very underperforming, disappointing, pitiful excuse of a Footy Team.

There is NO respect for Melbourne. As some quip ( often, lamentably ) the only way is up... Well youd think so... but you can also go sideways and that seems to be our path for a long time now. sideways.

Demons ?? more like Crabs !!

I do share RPFC ideal that 2013 will be far better, that real improvement is on theway. But before that happens there will be more dimantling and more pain and more purging.

There is still toxicity amongst the playing clan. However a huge order of Cleansing Poultice in on its way come seasons end.

Why is it I cant wait for the footy to start...then cant wait for it to be over !!! sigh

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
