Cook and Taggert back in - I'm almost more interested in their progress than that of the Dees this week - almost. Cook named in development side as well?

No Jurrah? mmm. Sounds like he still needs to meet the fitness requirements of the club.

Wont he get fitter faster if he's actually playing footy in a park somewhere, rather than just sitting on a bench in the crowd?

One more week on the track for Jurrah before his return:

Great to see Cook back from injury for his first game of the year and first draft pick Rory Taggert in for his first VFL game of his

career.

14 Demons players listed in that squad, clearly our injury list is shrinking, finally!

Need Jurrah back asap we will be lucky to kick more than 5 goals this week without Clark

Fitzy gets a good test against Goldstein. How unlucky is Fitzy that Sellar has come in and played an absolute blinder last week? Would love to see Ricky P demand his spot back, with clark out I thought he would have been in. Not sure what more Couch has to do to get a run it's very confusing. the only thing I can think of is we would have Jones,Beamer,Magner and couch who are all inside midfielder's.

Yep, those were four of the best possessions I have ever seen.

I reckon its time Blease steps up and has a game good enough to pressure for a recall to the seniors. We're crying out for outside run and he's in the magoos (as he should be BTW). Without being too dramatic, if he's not at the crossroads with the dess he's approaching it.

Always been a fan and he had a really bad break in his leg to overcome but he's had a full pre season and a month or so of footy so i think we can now start to to expect some good footy from yet another high draft pick.

Agreed. Too bad we didn't have him last season, he would have fit right in to our Round 19 side with a performance like that!

I think Sellar was a bit stiff, not his best game but he was going to take a couple of marks, I thought when Clark jumped all over him. I can't see the pair of them in the forward line together unless they get better delivery or a better understanding.

He definitely wasn't our worst, but 4 possessions is 4 possessions. He needs to impose himself on the game more if he wants to be a part of our team for the long haul.

Good to see Williams back in the seniors. 3 goals last week, and hopefully improvement from here as his rustiness disappears.

The seniors didn't play last week, he was in the development squad for match practice, as was Spencer.

I'm in the country today (other side of town) and, at best will get there late (if at all). I hope some of my contacts will be in touch with scores and details.

I do know that the development team (aka ressies) won comfortably. Lucas Cook, on comeback from injury, booted five goals.

Guest José Mourinho

Yeah but Darling would have kicked 6, therefore Cook's a spud and always will be.

Even though next year Darling would still kick 6, but Cook would kick 8...

Scores level at half time with Jamie Bennell the standout and Jake Spencer very good against Todd Goldstein.

Bad news for Tom Couch - off the ground with a suspected broken leg toe.

Casey Scorpions 7.7.49

North Ballarat 6.13.49

Possession Stats at Half Time

Bennell 16, Nicholson 13, Panozza, Couch, Fieldsend 11, Petterd, Sheahan, Blease 9.

Goals: Riseley, Smith  2 goals each.

Edit: suspected broken toe for Couch not a suspected broken leg.

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Once again the club’s top goal scorer but he had a few uncharacteristic flat spots during the season and the club will be looking for much better from him in 2025. After sustaining a torn ACL in the final match of the 2023 season Jake added a bit to the attack late in the 2024 season upon his return. He has re-signed on to the Demons for 1 more season in 2025. Date of Birth: 12 August 1991 Height: 186cm Games MFC 2024: 8 Career Total: 229 Goals MFC 2024: 8 Career Total: 188

2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. 2024 Player Reviews: #39 Koltyn Tholstrop

The first round draft pick at #13 from twelve months ago the strongly built medium forward has had an impressive introduction to AFL football and is expected to spend more midfield moments as his career progresses. 2024 Player Reviews: #42 Daniel Turner

The move of “Disco” to a key forward post looks like bearing fruit. Turner has good hands, moves well and appears to be learning the forward craft well. Will be an interesting watch in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #8 Jake Lever

The Demon’s key defender and backline leader had his share of injuries and niggles throughout the season which prevented him from performing at his peak.  Date of Birth: 5 March 1996 Height: 195cm Games MFC 2024: 18 Career Total: 178 Goals MFC 2024: 1 Career Total: 5

2024 Player Reviews: #13 Clayton Oliver

Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. He carried injury right through the back half of the season and was controversially involved in a potential move during the trade period that was ultimately shut down by the club.
