Around our part of the Ladder.

It's just we, folded in the second half. Much to learn & our new structure broke down under pressure. we've got work to do.

These structures also rely on maintaining the same players in the team to keep the structures integrity intact.

How do we do that, as were developing so many kids a t once.

It means nothing. Last year Melbourne beat Essendon by 33 points and Essendon beat Geelong by 5 points. And we all know about 186.

It's just the way footy is from week to week. And as BRFE stated, coming off a 5 day break in this day and age is a severe disadvantage.

It's not like football is a game of rock paper scissors. There are other factors in play beside x beats y beats z beats x. As others have said, matchups, byes, breaks, injuries and so on all have a big impact on what happens from week to week.

I also think Tom Rockliff bought into his own hype last night. Always skirted around packs and didn't do much defensive running. He mauled us last week and didn't fire a shot against Carlton. These things happen. Perhaps Kennedy won't destroy us tomorrow since he had it so easy against Markovic last week.

Who knows?

We have had the worst strart to a season any team has ever had so there is some excuses but we will be lucky to win 4-6 games and will end up in bottom 4 at best.

well if we were playing Carlton tomorrow I would be expecting an almighty flogging, put it that way. The mind boggles thinking how Judd and Murphy will destroy us, they are the champion midfielders you are supposed to draft and develop with picks in the top 3. They have a number of other stars all over the park as a result of their years in the doldrums, and are genuine flag contenders this year. Then there's us. With similar drafting gifts, albeit a couple of years behind, we have not been able to take advantage like they have. They got Kruezer in 2007 and we got Cale Morton who in his fifth year cannot even get a game in a truly ordinary side. There is no excuse for that, of course many simpletons here want to believe we picked the wrong bloke, even though it was widely recognised that he may have even been a no.1 pick that year as the top 5 was very strong - but Morton is at the wrong club, he would probably be running around dominating if the Blues had picked him instead of Kruezer. That is why we do not have one champion player on the list, it's because there is something wrong with our culture, our methods, our staff, I don't know what, it probably has a lot to do with money. The fact that Judd is their captain when he friggin barracked for us and could have gone anywhere is a fact that tells you everything you need to know about the big fish and little fish of modern footy. If anything exposes what a failure we are as a club it is the success of Carlton .

Believe 1/2 what you ere and al of what you see Brisbane were no good last week nor they'll be good rest of season. Get through your minds we will get better much better than 1st round suggested & it's time you people must stick.

Oh the negativity, now back to the Semans cave I adjourn.

Brisbane Bottom 8

2 days extra rest gave Carlton a great advantage to an already better team

Carlton Top 6

Has little to do with were Melbourne is at as getting a handle on Neelds game plan will take a few months

Doing it in auto mode will take longer and i would guess many team combinations

To be honest i think Neeld will need 2 seasons to get the right mix which might include some strategic trading and drafting

We're addressing these issues one by one.

The coaching staff now look competent and after a summer of assessment there'll be some ferocious trading at the end of the year.

I remember Cale Morton running away from a Port ruckman in his first or second year - therein lies the problem....doesn't want to compete and never will.

Please stop with this 'he barracked for us' as a kid stuff - I was educated at Blacky High and and sure as hell don't to go back there and teach. This is all romantic fantasy.

This club will improve.

Dumb, ignorant comment.

If you ever watched that game you should have noticed that the reason he turned and ran was because the ball was nearby and he was trying to get it.

Plenty on here live bashing Cale, if you're going to do it, at least get your facts right first.

correct

I cannot believe our own supporters still spout that stuff - HIS TEAMMATE HAD THE BALL AND HE STOPPED BUMPING CHESTS AND RAN TO POSITION AND MARKED THE BALL LIKE HE SHOULD HAVE

That is what happened everybody. Stop retelling it differently. PLEASE.

That is another idiotic thing I am sick of hearing 'well I went to this school and if my employer offered more elsewhere' WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT YOU. WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT TEACHING.

In any case, we did not get the big player, they did, because we are minnows.

Your argument about 'he barracked for us and should play here' still remains a shallow fantasy.

Do you really think Brian Royal is looking competent as midfield coach?

I think the Lions possibly played the best game they will ever play this year against the Dees, we will get better and I don't think they can.

That's true - I'm surprised Royal stayed / was retained.

Having said that, he might lift his game with the right people around him.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
