Not concerned with Dylan at Richmond. Happy with his brother Jack. I'm more "if only" with Billie Smedts, but I hope we hit the jackpot with Cook all the same.

Take note...Cook will be a very very good player for us.

Would like the club to ask for Jack to give back his wage from the week he spent in Qld last year while injured.

Unfortunately, with the precedent cemented in this situation we can not ask Jurrah to do the same while on Bereavement Leave.

Please don't call me racist (although I hate crackers) just because I want Jack to pay up.

It's all about the precedent.

The message it sends...

what?

Has anyone on here done a full preseason with an ALF club (not having a go but would like to know)..I played a lot of suburban footy and I hated training on a Tuesday night as the bar was not open afterwards.. Thursday night was great and a lot more numbers. I don't think we appriecate how tough and time consuming a full preseason is for these blokes. I don't think a short break is harmful and I believe it is a bit of a freshener for some players.

I doubt anyone on here is serious Bossdog.

But to answer your question

No

Nowhere near enough talent

and when I played it was very long time ago and a totally different culture etc existed.

Football was a part time ocupation even at VFL level.

No one trained before Christmas.

The level I was at started in early Feb. with first matches in mid to late April.

A very different world last century.

VFL is still part time with most players having full time jobs.(Played VFA) Just stating playing AFL is not easy

Surprised no one has taken the bait Bossdog

Perhaps you should try a different type

Like start a tread on him and say.

"seriously doubt this guy is any good"

that should get them snapping at your hook!

Wonder if players get the choice to not take the break? or is it forced leave?

Im not sure that fringe rookies would want a break in there final year (Evans).

After watching the way he conducted himself yesterday in his interviews, I have no doubt that provided he can stay healthy, Grimes is ready to lead the Demons back up the ladder.

Big proviso GTG.

Has anyone noticed there is no "injury notes" on the MFC web site this year.

Is this part of the AFL takeover of all club news?

Loved the press conference from Jack after the attacks on Neeld. Definitely something about this guy, he just oozes leadership. Gives me some hope for the future.

I agree. It was really good. We're never going to be a great side until guys like Jack Grimes are our leaders (check), and guys like Brad Green and Aaron Davey are gone (getting close now). They weren't quite up to the challenge of bringing this club into the new millenium, so it's getting time for them to wind it up and pass the baton to someone who won't get frightened by responsibility.

disappointed with jack Grimes kicking out of defence. His kicking is all over the place. A player who cannot hit targets out coming out of defence is a liablity we don't need.

Okay, but what about his attack on the footy?

Saturday night's conditions weren't good, but I agree, he can butcher the ball.

But! I love him!

I agree his attack is good.

Morton and Grimes are our play makers coming out of defence, both are terrible kicks at the moment. If we are going to give our forwards a better chance then we need to move the ball quickly out of defence.

As a backman in a former life (season) I always put it on the midfield as a 'partner' of getting the ball out of the backline.

I would tell them if you are standing next to me you are of little use - maybe a handball if in space, and if you are standing still 30m away with your bloke on you, then you are of no use.

It starts and ends in the middle, and I still think our mids don't work hard enough, or smart enough, for long enough to give our defenders options.

I'm not saying these two shouldn't own their clangers but they need the mids to spread and find some cheap footy.

(Ironically, something Morton gets pilloried for...)

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
