Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Considering last yearDavey was being considered as captain will he even make the seniors for round 1?

Also considering there is another week of work ahead does anyone have any good comebacks for the tools at work giving me sh$t for having co captains??? One thought I have had is that we have 2 players who deserve to be captain not just one.

Just mention Sydney in 2005, Barry Hall, Leo Barry & Brett Kirk

When he plays 15 games in the one season perhaps!

Only joking mate, could not help myself

Lets hope that he does stay on the park Old Dee otherwise it will be a team with one captain. Must admit when I heard there was joint capts my first though was Grimes has hardly been on the park. Maybe 2012 will be his first full year.

I am looking forward to 2012 but at the same time very very mindful of having high expectations or actually any expectations based on prev yrs.

I'm not too sure about this business of effectively having only one captain if there's only one of them on the park. Case in point being last year when Grimes barely took the field, yet his leadership was looked upon as strong enough to win the leadership award at the B&F. Goes to show just how much work captains and leaders do behind the scenes that we are not privvy to, and might go along way to explaining why certain players weren't picked this year. It is not just the leadership that we see that makes a good and effective leader.

Never mind missing out on leadership group. 2 senior Melb players (not Green) yet to prove worthy of a game. Coaching staff unimpressed.

Make of it whoever you think the "2" are.....

I would think it would be Flash and Riv.

Yes I agree. Maybe flash and Sylvia too?

From all reports I thought that Col was training well so that would surprise, but Riv seems to have been a little off the pace in the running etc. If it was Col I'd be really disappointed as I'm expecting a big year from him.

Good point Robbie. Yes Col needs to stand up. Let's hope everyone steps up and leads from their specific roles.

Colin Sylvia is not in the leadership group and once again is seemingly showing great potential (as he always does) for a big season... Has not had it yet.

IMO, the two people Sheahan may have been talking about would be Davey and Rivers. Even more so that he did not mention Green. If Green has taken the loss of the captaincy in his stride then its a good test of character.

I saw Green in the street on thursday in elwood, and he looked fit as, and was happy as with a mate. Make of that what you will, but i reckon Brad is ready for a big crack this year. 2011 would have hurt him, something he wants to beat.

Will see soon enough Ol Dee am going to the pre-season game at Carrara. Will be interesting to see what game plan we have and how the boys have adjusted to it.

I thought it was interesting reading when Neeld said that it was the hardest job to tell the players who had missed out on being retained on the leadership groupand that they all took it differently. I would have thought that Beamer would have taken it the hardest, Greeny may have realised that he is more important to the Club without the leaders weight on his shoulders, Davey maybe a few truths hurt and Rivers - not sure.

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again headlining another blockbuster at the MCG to kick off the round of footy. MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
