Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yze now a Hawk

i suppose we've already got a brand new coaching panel, but if he turns out to be half as good a coach as a player then he will do alright.

"FORMER Melbourne star Adem Yze has joined Hawthorn as an assistant to Alastair Clarkson.

The 34-year-old will join the Hawks as a part-time assistant and game-day runner, reports The Age.

Yze, who played 271 games for the Demons and was named as an All Australian in 2002, will assist Hawthorn's forward line.

The Keith 'Bluey' Truscott Medal winner will also be involved in the development academy of feeder team Box Hill, who Yze played with after retiring from senior football in 2008 before a stint with the Shepparton Swans in 2010. "

All the best to oooooze at the hawkas but dissapointed that we couldn't get him on board for 2012. Absolutely loved the guy as a player and will never forget his sheer brilliance around the big sticks. Will forever miss him and Robbo in our forward line!

Have the Hawks just announced this? I remember reading this on Yze's twitter months ago. He must still be in pretty good condition to be a match day runner.

Ooze was highly regarded by the young Hawk players when he was assistant coach at Box Hill a few seasons ago.

Good luck to oooozay. I have lots of great memories watching his class and grace over the MCG. Just a word of warning to the hawks, keep him well away from the handball drills and skills. He aint that good as a handballer. Woeful in fact. Great left foot tho

couldn't help but think "coulda used this guy the last couple of seasons"

My mind didn't go there at all.

Yze had his time and it was well and truly up when we pushed him out.

Many love to say "we should have kept (insert name) for another season" until one reminds them of the players that wouldn't be drafted if they stayed.

Jurrah, Martin, and young McDonald are all late picks (or early PSD picks) that would not be here if the fans (and players) wish for "one more year" were granted.

Careful there BB, You could get sanctioned for such slander. The precedent has been set.

Dont think so.

In his prime, he was a very skillful footballer, a match winner at best but too often played on his own terms and not the teams. Real talent that was flawed in its delivery and the extent of commitment.

His final 3 year contract showed him a fringe player who could not compete with where the game is going.

Not sure why we have a compunction to fill all coaching/footy dept positions with ex players especially given we have had no success for 47 years.

Ooze would be damned not by anything I could or would say....but byhis own history. That speaks quite plainly and fully for itself.

Slander and /o rlibel refer to untruths. I would wholly suggest thats not the case here.

Looking back at the Yze generation of players I don't think he did worse or less than nearly all of his peers. Damned by the club culture and leadership they all were and mediocrity is their legacy.

Training at the sh!tbox junction oval didn't help so factor that in to you damming philosophy. We have only recently caught up remember. I have no doubt that crappy junction facility cost us at least one cup.

please spare me the patronising.. if only t-i-c . There quantity..and quality. Consider ther era he played in. Many and often wass the case a more deserving youngen really ought to have been selected but Ooze was ought about betteringJimma's record..

I dont make beer butI can tell a good drop from a bad.. He should have been pushed aside years before he was. He was a showman...he liked the limelight...he liked to lairise. he was a show off . A damnshame he wasnt quite as good as his ego would have us believe.

He played a few really good games.. He played many very adequate ones. He also played more than a countable number of selfish games.

hey ,good luck to the guy for getting the gig. Pardon me whilst I chuckle . I concur with the other poster who suggests he might teach the squawkers how to play a fair game of outside footy !!

Glad hes there and not here...suffice to say.

If we had a Malthouse or a Matthews to tan his hide he might have had a different approach to his game and the same applies for many others.

Thats a damnation for the club leadership for penny pinching and wallowing in past glories for too many decades.

Yze was a classy player who could hit targets , slot goals AND tackle .Why pay out on him now? Daniher got the best out of him in his day and he got tagged out in latter years .He preferred to kick the ball rather than handpass but so what .

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
