Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I heard Jimmy talking about it yesterday and it filled me with incredible sadness; what he has had to go through and what he faces is something that I can't even contemplate.

Not only that, but the way he goes about it is truly inspirational. His attitude throughout his illness has been unbelievable, especially considering the numerous setbacks he's had along the way. It's about time he had some good news.

totally agree.

I cant believe he is able to find the strength and time to be involved with the footy club, let alone be the president

words like inspirational, legend, great, role model etc get bandied around a little to much for my likeing, but Jim deserves every bit of recognition he gets.

A few years ago my sister managed to get me passes into the rooms for after the game (Round 14, 2008-- the one when we upset Brisbane by a point with the lead changing several times in the last quarter). All the players parents were in attendance, and also in the rooms after the game. I was talking to Matty Warnock (who could talk the legs off a table), when Jimmy came past and said hello. I talked to him for about ten minutes, and he was clearly genuinely interested in having a conversation with a fan, despite all the other more important people that were there that he could have been talking to. I saw him go around to several other fans and do the same thing. I found this to be a great gesture of kindness from Jimmy. It probably would have been much more interesting or productive for him to be speaking with other people in that room, but he made the time to go up to the supporters and engage them in conversation. That's the type of guy he is: caring, compassionate, thoughtful. He is truly one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.

What a true inspiration this man is, and thank God that the docs have given him an extra shot. Here's hoping that they can actually cure him, it may be a long shot, but if anyone deserves it, this great man does.

at his press conference yesterday, it felt like it was the first time that he admitted to the media that he truly thought he was on his last legs and that he was lost to this bloody monster. Sure, everyone is thinking the same thing and no doubt so is his family, that it's probably more likely than not that he will eventually succumb to it, but he refuses to lay down. Resilience personified.

Big Jim has enough heart to fill the MCG 10-times over. Everything that is right at the MFC, is because of Jim Stynes. Jim Stynes means more to the MFC and its supporters, than any other individual in the AFL currently, or for a long long time, perhaps even ever.

Jim Stynes is the MFC. He was, is and always will be.

Keep fighting Jim, you continue to, and always will inspire.

He is perhaps the most resilient man I have ever seen .

Like our club ,he has survived beyond expectation .

May he fight on to see his grandkids play in red and blue .

Two highlighted quotes that encompass everyone's opinion of Jimmy.

I have never met the man but in passing at the G but i sincerely love Jimmy.

I really feel for and think of his beautiful family at this time and hope they have but a fraction of his internal strength to help them get through this horrible situation.

As a man who usually keeps everything bottled up and likes to think he is a typical Aussie Bloke, i sincerely offer my love and best thoughts for Jim and his family...

As God is my witness (even if I'm a bit of an atheist) the Melbourne Football Club will honour this man as he has honoured us. He is 3 days younger than me and what he has gone/going through I could not contemplate!

Absolutely fantastic news. Hearing the word 'ecstatic' used in connection with Jimma's health is brilliant. Keep up the good work Jimma.

Agree... Jimmy transcends club boundaries and when there is a cheer at the MCG, it will be from all supporters of all teams.

Jimmy is the perfect example of life imitating art... nothing could stop him on the footy field, and now nothing can stop him living his life to the fullest.

I hope the players have some sort of Jimma "pact" next year, to play beyond expectations. Jimma must inspire them when he is seen or mentioned. Jimma deserves to see the MFC play finals, it's up to the players to deliver.

Regardless of what happens and when, Jim's presence be it physical or spiritual will permeate throughout the MCG when the Melbourne Football Club hold their next cup aloft.

God bless you Jimmy.

And watch all the seagull flogs hammer him for an autograph like last year when he came down the race. I dont mind seeing kids hound him, but seriously, people need to get a clue.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
