Big call by Crackers Keenan - GWS will struggle

Critics of Sheedy have said he only went back to coaching to break Jock McHale's record but he believes the fire still burnt in his belly.

He was rejected by Melbourne and Richmond before becoming the successful candidate for GWS.

Others have said that he went back to coaching for an even more fundamental reason and that he made the courageous move to Bleaktown for the same reason his star player did - the $.

And that is the stuff that failed franchises in sport are made of.

This is a strange article by Crackers.

He's having a few bob each way when he takes aim at GWS and then says that the place is a "promised land".

While he looks at the veterans (mainly on pensions) recruited by GWS his analysis completely fails to consider the inexperience and lack of physical and mental maturity and quality of the five uncontracted players picked up by GWS with the help of the generous concessions provided by the AFL.

There's nobody there in that vital mid 20s age range who can lead this squad and provide the necessary on field guidance to cope with the team's initial years in a tough competition. At least the Suns recruited such players as G. Ablett Junior, Brown, Brennan, Rischitelli, Bock and Fraser who were the backbone of their team last year to provide that guidance for the kids.

GWS picked the eyes out of the young talent in a shallow draft and have some very good young players coming into the system but we know it takes years of development with the help of seasoned players around them to bring them up to the levels required to achieve a successful combination on the field.

I think it's going to be an even longer wait than even Crackers thinks and it might not even happen at all.

Is it any coincidence that free agency will be introduced around the same time as a team with bottomless pockets?

GWS will get all the players they need, by hook or by crook! Mostly by hook but plenty of crook too I'm sure

Not necessarily. It does mean though that victorian clubs such as the MFC have to improve in all areas of contract negotiations both GC $un$ and GW$ will not have bottomless salary caps forever. If i was Nought Melbourne or Footscray i would be feeling a little vulnerable.

Complete proof there was no knee soreness causing those 'average efforts' throughout the year.

It's not in my nature to wish a career ending injury to anyone but.............

you would take notice of any drivel that comes out of Shoddy's mouth???? fcs

"And of course not only have they already got players but next year under the eagle eye of Phil Scully, the $100,000 recruiting man, they'll have even more young talent."

Crackers taking the urine. Love it.

I also hold very bitter feelings about the snot nose kid ( may he rot in hell) but complete proof - please point me to where the article gives complete proof he had no knee soreness last year ?

He had a bung knee - he was out for the better part of the last half of the season and now it might be feeling better ? is that a possibility ? It is unheard of that a footballer has an injury, rests and it gets better ?

Actually, I would have thought that the article could just as easily be construed as complete proof that he does have an issue with the knee... it is certainly a much more feasible explanation for having him do a lighter training load (75%) than his team mates... as was mentioned before, all Shoddy needs to do is watch who follows Sulky in to work out how well they are traveling.

In other words Sheedy is saying

"Tom has a saw knee that the whole of Australia hope buckles and we have to restrict his training and always will"

Go F**k yourself you greedy bunch of scumbags

Yup - you could certainly read that into the article.

I honestly understand why we are still talking about this.

I have little idea why there is a picture of this bloke though...

This is the Scullduggery thread, right? I posted a huge picture of the Sculldugger himself!

Honestly, I am sure most of us are over it and just despise him. Couldn't help myself when I found an oversized picture of Benedict Arnold.

Yes, but Benedict Arnold rarely appeared in Pro-Revolutionary War Forums for fear it would embolden the enemy and just [censored] people off...

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
