Smokies in this draft or Rookie picks - my pick Lin Jong (from 2011)

My smokie in this draft is this fella. Has come from nowhere this year to play in the TAC Grand final.

He lacked confidence in his early years but has really come on, being consistently one of their best overall. At188 cms tall, has played in many positions even played finals in the ruck.

I await other thoughts on him and others to be smokies to be considered here or in the rookie list

yeh would be great for our relations/sponsorship options with china! (assuming he is ethnically chinese, going by his name)

would he be considered a project player like majak daw?

Definitely a project player whom Big footy have him going to Richmond for a late pick.Got natural ability which can be developed.

doubt he will still be there at 36

I wouldn't have a clue. Quigley (50 +), Phelan (58), Snoop dog (~48) all have him at 48 and plus. Sheehan has him in top 30. Law of averages tells me he'll be somewhere close to or in between our picks.

Was Ma Jong a good athlete or a better entertainer?

Never knew his mother. But his dad, Pa Jong and I go way back. Pa Jong knows Judds grandma who gives Rogue good mail here. Lin Jong and Chris could be related.

I believe that's debatable but I did hear she was good for a night on the tiles.

Not going to make a comment on that.,however good on ya Ma.

Another player that we may consider is Jake Hammond- either last pick or rookie pick.

what position does he play at AFL level?

Is that Lins mum? LoL.

I hear they're good laterally... Good vision... LoL.

He is the guy you picked as the brightest light that you had seen play this year.He is the one that played in the ruck, forward, centre, back- most versatile and brilliant.

Very versatile- however I can see him playing HBF, Wing, HFF

Steady on JCB. I didn't say that, but thought his endeavor & basic skills were good and his workrate was high and consistent. An interesting kid.

Observations from my only venture to the U-18 's this year. Until the Etihad games, anyway.

There seems to be lots of choices this year, feels like more than most years?

Lin Jong certainly fits in with jcb's traditional policy of simply backing the bloke with the funniest name. Serhat Temel anyone?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
