Whilst I think Brett would definitely be a good choice if available, personally I would rather see the new Casey coach handpicked by Neeld- even if it is a left-field, who the hell is this guy kind of appointment.

That way it would ensure that there is total continuity across the board and everything that happens at Casey is first and foremost done with a view to benefit Melbourne.

There will most probably be more than just a change of coach at the Scorps.

Marquee signing from 2011, Brendan Fevola is seeking a place on an AFL club list but if he doesn't secure one, has indicated he would try his hand elsewhere - even possibly as a punter (the kicking kind, not betting) in the NFL.

Well documented is the fact that the Giants are keeping a place on their list open for tall defender Tim Mohr under the non contacted by AFL clubs rule.

Small defender Michael Stockdale is heading across to Williamstown and there were question marks last time I enquired about the future of James Wall and Rian McGough.

We're looking at a substantial overhaul on the playing side of the Scorpions in 2012.

What's that all about? That's arguably all the best VFL listed players from the Scorps wiped out in one hit from my understanding.

"Casey might not have far to look for Brad Gotch’s replacement, with Melbourne player resources manager Craig Lees a leading candidate."

From the Herald Sun

I've no idea on Lees experience or background. Anyone got an insight?

I remember reading when we hired Gotch that CC was in charge of the appointment. Do we know who's looking for the coach this time?

Craig Lees was the Football Manager with the Casey Scorpions before he joined Melbourne in his current role. I think he was instrumental in a lot of the off season recruiting in his time at the club.

His brother is Wade Lees who was a regular with the Seniors in the latter part of the season holding down some major tagging roles.

The Casey Scorpions have lost some key players from this year's list with the departures of Tim Mohr (GWS), Brendan Fevola (?) and Michael Stockdale (Williamstown) and are yet to appoint a senior coach for 2012 but pre season training starts next Monday.

I believe that the coaching appointment is imminent.

Craig Lees?

He has been rumored but to my knowledge has not been confirmed .

Pardon my ignorance. But, who is Craig Lees, and what is his claim to fame?

Craig Lees is currently Melbourne's player resources manager and, prior to that, he was football manager with the Casey Scorpions. I think (but not 100% sure of all the names) he was also responsible for a great deal of the Scorps' recruiting which in recent years produced Tim Mohr and the likes of Alex Silvagni, Peter Faulks (now both at the Dockers), James Wall, Rian Mcgough and many others.

He has a brother at Casey, Wade Lees who plays a stopping role. Not sure if the VFL has a Phil Scully rule but I'm pretty sure that Craig's last job didn't involve anything to do with roof tiles.

Anyway, going on what Casey said in the OP, his recruiting skills will be invaluable and, on what I've heard, he has what it takes to coach at this level as well. Before he went to Casey he coached EDFL side East Burwood to consecutive premierships.

The foremost authority on matters Casey (aside from our KC) Brendan Fevola has just tweeted this:-

Disappointing to see @CraigLees7 pull out of the Casey job would have been a great coach loved by all the boys!

So who are the candidates?

does anyone know?

I believe Brett Lovett will be appointed very soon as Casey's coach. A great appointment and this will be confirmed in the coming days which leaves only one position of any importance to be announced. Football director role which i still think Greg Healy is the frontrunner.

Talk about GWS and jobs for the boys.

This looks a little "old boyish" to me

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
