Much rather get it out of the way early in May. Weather might be a littel more lenient then. Certainly dont want it last round

I suppose the game will be played before our June break so that's a positive.

Round 9 v Port , Darwin

Round 10 v Gold Coast MCG

Round 11 v Collingwood MCG

Rd 12 - bye

Rd 13- v Gws, MCG

The above would be a decent outcome.

4 home games in a row? Don't think they would allow it would they?

you have a point.. We can say that teh Filth and Dwarves games are penned in for certs. Arguably its only put that we are in Melb fo rthe GWS game.. so would we be bussed down the road ? Possiblly..hope not..cant stand the place.

Technically I suppose the Northern adventure is a home game...but does its "long way away" nature rebuff any home ground continuance ? Just asking .

would they have us go from NT >> Brissy ?

My particular concern is an ability to recover from the Darwin dalliance. Early in year is ( by degrees, npi ) a better time than later. . Keep in mind as mooted we'd only have 3 games in a row at teh G...and its a broken run. Given the hand holding the Filth have had in the past is it so far fetched ?.. maybe ;)

Far out B59, I try, I seriously try to understand your posts, but WTF are you talking about in this one??

In response to the "ideal" 4 games mentioned above, if we are to play GWS in Melbourne, it will be our home game. Collingwood always give us teh QB game as a home game, the Darwin game - regardless of who we are playing against, is a home game that we earn $500k from, and the proposed GC game at the MCG is obviously our home game too.

Regardless of where these games are played at, it would mean we play 4 home games in a row, which means we would only have 8 more home games to spread over 20 weeks (meaning we will have to have at least one period of 3 away games in a row).

There's no "maybe" about it - it is far fetched. But it's nice to dream.

I just find it laughable that as far fetched as the idea is, you still think we have grounds to state our case because we won't be playing consecutive games at the MCG, therefore, having 4 home games in a row should be considered.

My original post just explained in quite simple terms why the idea wouldn't work, yet you had to come out swinging, as always, to make yourself feel superior (or more educated - the thing you have a fetish about). It gets pretty boring after a while.

Well well well ..dont botnher reading..it might hurt you.. I did actually agree with you that you had a point. ., but hey ..as its you want to be adversarial ; you have a particular like for things I say, you choose to ignore such.

I said it would suit... not it was likely.

The fixutre comes out in under two hours, we already know we have home games against Brisbane, Port and GWS, I hope for the clubs sake we don't end up like last year with 7 home games against interstate clubs. Lets hope we can get home games against Collingwood, Essendon, Geelong, Hawthorn, Carlton, Richmond then add in 4 interstate clubs and either Bulldogs or North to finish of our 11 games. This is a dream more likely we will get Collingwood, Saints, Bulldogs, North plus one other from the big clubs and 6 matches against interstate clubs.

13 games at the G ain't bad.

We will only have 4 wins at rd13 though! Horror first half.

Hawthorn, Collingwood, Wet Coke (in Perth), Sydney (SCG), Carlton and Geelon (in Geelong). Be prepared people. By the half way mark we will be bottom 4 no doubt about it.

Only wins i see before our bye are

Brisbane, Richmond, Footscray, Essendon and maybe St Kilda at the 'G'. Most of these are 50/50 at best at the moment anyway.

We could be in for a mare in the first half of 2012. FML

Our whole Draw ain't bad IMO. I looked at it and smiled, lots. Lions, Eagles, Tiges, Dogs, Saints is a pretty nice first 5 weeks. Then the next six of Cats, Hawks, Swans, Blues, Bombers, Pies is pretty damn rough though. The rest, Giants, Lions, Tiges, Dockers, Power, Roos, Suns, Saints, Giants, Crows, Dockers, is a pretty beautiful draw to end the season on. It by no means guarantees success, but at this stage, it has to be one of the easiest draws I can remember off the top of my head.

No games at Aami Statdium or Football Park! We get to give the Sate of South Australia a miss this year, which is great considering our history there.

2 games in Perth

Away games at SCG and Gabba.

GWS away in Canberra

Only two at the Corporate Dome.

Not too shabby.

Love the optimism - but then again, we wouldn't be MFC supporters if we looked for positives.

IMHO, we really don't know how we will be faring at the mid-way point because we will be going into the season with a new coaching set-up, a new forward structure, some fitter players and hopefully a new mind-set. Anything could happen.

Positives I see (yes, I will have to confess to being a poor supporter) are that we have a great run of games at the MCG, we meet West Coast at Pattersons early in the season, so it could be anybodies game really, the Saints and Bullies are in some disarray and there is no reason we could not be 5-0 (yes we could just as easily be 2-3) early on.

I for one, will not write us off just yet.

My only comment on the draw is that I finally get to see us play in Sydney for the first time in a few years, but am a bit disappointed I will have to travel 300km down the road to see us vs Scullys.

What fantasy land are you living in Kento? How is Eagles away in rd2 anything to smile about? Then we will have the weary legs rd 3 against Tiges and lose, we haven't beaten Dogs or Saints in a long time, being at the G might help. We do not get a bye after Darwin, so expect to drop the 3 after that. I might be a pessimist but i see nothing i like in this draw. We should of at least had the bye after Darwin.

I will be more optimistic after i see our form in the NAB cup. The way i look at it atm is that we are playing 7 out of tlast year's top 8 sides in the first 12 weeks. Unless we have a huge turnaround in form over summer, I expect we will lose all 7 of those. Now, what we cannot determine at this stage is how other teams will be travelling. Unknowns like 'will St Kilda fall away' etc cannot be answered right now. We had the saints this year when they were wobbly and didn't get the job done. I appreciate your optimism and hope you are right, but I don't like the look of the first half of the season. If we don't win many early on, the confidence goes.

Even draw with a tough first half season followed by a easier second half season. We play with 8 of the top 8 (2011) teams in the in first 11 games followed by 1 of the top 8 (2011) teams in final 11 games. We also play freo twice in the second half of the season who would be looking to re-enter the top 8 in 2012.

the tough patch from Round 4 - 11 will reveal alot about how the team is travelling in 2012 relative to the tough patch we had in 2011 (i.e. leading up to 186)..

It is a similar draw to last year, we need to improve beat the sides around or below us, that include Essendon and St Klida and the crowds will come. Like last year we have every chance to play finals if we improve and start winning games that we should and start winning the 50/50 matches.

Did I break it down and say that the eagles over there is good did I??? No, I included that in a pretty nice first 5, which by no means says anything good about that particular game. It is a generalisation. If you can't see that you can't be helped. God forbid anyone on here should feel positive. You are right about dogs and saints, however there is nothing to suggest a resurgence from either of them next year, so 50/50 atm for mine. We play Cats, Pies, Hawks, Blues, Swans, only once and you don't like that?? What land of despair are you living in?

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
