Second list lodgement is November 16th, before the draft on the 18th. If Juice wants a crack at the main draft, that's his chance (doubt he does though)

Why do you doubt that he would?

If I didn't have any evidence to the contrary I'd doubt that he wouldn't want want a crack at AFL somewhere else...

Apologies for clarity, meant chance for the national draft - if Juice is going to get picked up, it'll be in the PSD

I'm thinking Neeld wants to give Juice a crack. Training doesn't start until November.

Third list lodgement is November 30th, ahead of the PSD and rookie drafts on Dec 13.

The coaches have nothing to lose by giving him a crack for two weeks. I think a decision will be made either way on the 16th - if they choose to hold onto him, they'll use the last pick in the draft to upgrade him, while if they decide to drop him they'll do it then as they surely wouldn't (can't? - not sure if you can use the PSD to upgrade rookies) wait until LL3 to choose.

Or the alternate - they just haven't decided yet. Still nearly 2 weeks.

Except all credibility.............do you not think that 7 years was enough to form an opinion?.........if they need another 2 weeks we need new coaches!

Ah-ha! Yeah, I'm not sure he'll get a shot somewhere but stranger things have happened.

We have new coaches. Apart from Royal, it's an entire new coaching team - thus the 2 week chance. They'll be aware from Harrington that he's on notice big-time though if he gets those two weeks.

That said, as I noted he could still go by the 31st.

Do you think Neeld might have assessed the list prior to appointment?. Given he played as earlier as 2006, opposition coaches would be well aware of his status. some of the new coaches like Leigh Brown would have played against him as well and would know where he is at. And FWIW, I cant say Royal, Viney, Connolly are likely to give him a ringing endorsement.

What would you see in two weeks after coming off an end-of-season layoff? Sorry but that's bizarre

Let's not forget that Juice has been part of the scene at Melbourne for seven years now and he came to the club as a 17 year old. From what I can gather, he has a lot of good mates at the club and given that the Scorpions are losing some players it wouldn't surprise me if, assuming he does get delisted by us, he ends up a Casey player.

Melbournefc website has confirmed that the one and only Juice has been delisted. At last!!! All the skill in the world but no real heart or desire. I cannot believe we have kept him for so long. Amid all the debate about the merits of Dean Bailey, his retention of Juice is one of the biggest question marks of all. What did he show behind the scenes that made the coaching and list management people think he added something to our list? But now, one space on our list is opened up for some potential talent, not Juice's let-downs.

You are kidding. The space on our list is a rookie spot. Keep sweating the very small stuff.

Just cool it down guys.

A good luck will do.

Indeed.

And yet, he played 28 more games than all you keyboard warriors.

Never understood why people take such joy in a player's career coming to an end. You mightn't have been a huge fan and you mightn't have agreed with each or any of the recontracting decisions, but that isn't some personal offence Newton has personally committed against yourselves. He's just yet another player who has now been and gone on our list.

He must've kicked a lot of cats around here, that's all I can think of.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
