Shannon Byrnes and Tyson Goldsack

Arent we looking to improve our midfield and key forward stocks?

Byrnes is an outside mid who hasnt been making the grade. Goldsack is second banana to two gorillas in the forward line - we have lots of second banana forwards only one gorilla in Clark - so I say no thanks not compelling.

Good news everyone. We have a small forward.

So in total, we have one small forward.

no reports on how much he is being paid?

Who really cares.....We don't know how much any of our players are getting...neither do the media.....It's all guess work by them and us....Don't know how much Mitch is getting....Only the club and the player/manager knows....I don't know why people get hung up on this?????

Which player from the abudance of FA Gorillas and mids do you think we should sign up?

And just out of curiosity, being a dual premiership player means he missed out on one. Was he injured or just unable to get into a very good side?

Pretty sure he was an emergency for last years grand final. So not able to get into the side as new players like Christensen took his spot.

I care, as it comes out of my membership fees.

And it is nice to know what kind of ballpark he is in terms of player payment, he didn't seem to hesitate at all while most other players do when it comes to the MFC.

He'd be cheap, costs us nothing picks wise. Adds plenty of experience and professionalism to a club that desperately needs those two attributes.

Why all the angst about it.

Welcome to the Club Shannon.

Not necessarily anyone from the FA pool that doesnt fit our longer term needs.

Then what is the harm in signing Byrnes, I think its a good move by the MFC

I am sure next week will be when we do deals do land a Gorilla and a few Mids when we can actually Trade.

Does the shareholder really care what the mailboy in a huge organisation is getting paid???

Sh#t ones dont.

I'm happy with this signing.

Having said that, if we got more players in the 'ageing' bracket i would be worried. We retired Green and got rid of moloney + Rivers may walk.

If someone had asked you - who would you prefer Moloney or Byrnes you'd say Moloney in a heartbeat

Not just what I said before, it would be good to know what type of coin he is on as it is a factor into what type of compensation we receive from Moloney/Rivers signing with other teams.

It would just be food for thought to know if we were/were not going to get a pick.

Yes, could be a fertile plot - I'd be keen on looking at Tom Murphy from this year - seems like a very solid citizen, is UFA and would set a good benchmark for commitment at our club.

Welcome Shannon!

He is wrapt to be a Demon, and is very committed, even doing Kokoda in the off season.

Sorry....Can't let this go.......So, as a good shareholder you would know the saleries of all the office workers...even if you are making a large profit....If we won a premiership would you care how much Trengove got after kicking the winning goal?????

Sorry just saw your latest post....I'll give it up now....

Those examples are irrelevant. How much Byrnes is earning comes into play when compensation for losing F/A's are awarded.

Like i said earlier, its food for thought to know whether or not we should expect a compensation pick.

Very happy with this pick up. He comes from a winning culture, and knows what it takes to win a premiership.

I think part of of the problem is our current experienced players are only experienced in an MFC environment. They've never won a premiership or even played deep into the finals. They haven't trained alongside guys that have won Brownlow medals.

Byrnes has. If he can instill the right ethic into the younger guys then he's served his purpose well.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
