James Strauss

Grimes is Great

Hi all

Has anyone got any updates on how young James Strauss is recovering from his broken leg?

Can we expect him to play AFL next year?

I thought he showed some good signs this year.

Cheers

Great news that he is out of his moon boot and walking -- 50% of pre season work is expected to be completed.

Hi. How's it going?

This injury was tough to take. Just when Straussy's confidence was on the rise he snaps his leg like that. Major set back, but it is good to hear that he is on the mend! =)

Weeping wall on Twitter made a card for him and a few of us sent in messages of hope, I'm sure things like that raised his spirits.

Can't wait to see him back out there!

I was at the game sitting in the front row where it happened and the look on everyones faces (other than James himself!! ) said it all, im glad hes recovering well because he had established himself in our 22 and was starting to become an AFL footballer. Really hope to see him out there in the 2012 season, hes quite a gem across the back line

was in hospital today having a few things fixed up today.

ankle thumb and knee i think. all minor things.

interesting though, Green and Trengove are having the exact same thing done, something to do with 'better drop of the ball and kick action', a Mission idea??

He's been active in the weights room for a few weeks now.

Walking without a problem on the leg and commencing running before the pre-season officially begins. Some surgery on an unrelated matter to football set things back but will be better than ever next year.

Will be a great HBF for the Melbourne Football Club

Hey Deemitch, I may have misinterpreted your comment, can you please clarify?

Are you suggesting that both Green and Trengove are having surgery, however minor it may be, purely for the purpose of altering/fine-tuning their kicking action?

Great to hear he is going well, I think in the back of our minds we all had he worst case 'Nathan Brown' scenario in our heads.

Thankfully it wasn't broken against anything as hard as Matty Whelan.

I hope it stays looked after and the time concentrating on rehab focuses the mind on the fact that he has shown that when he comes back from the injury, he can be a genuine AFL player.

Heh, reminds me of the joke -

"Will I be able to play the violin once the cast comes off?'

"Yes, of course!"

"Really? I couldn' before my arm was broken!"

Why did I share that? Some deep untended pain, I guess.

Saw him at my pub trivia night on Monday with a bunch of presumably Scotch mates.....he was walking happily with a bit of a limp. I was surprised he was so mobile.

Yeah, Greeny's getting his left and right foot swapped so we can try starting him on the other flank. Should also confuse the opposition for at least half the season.

Such a classic place the 'Dale.

Watch out for team SHB. We dominate ;)

Haha, I think you give footballers too much credit.

The other player I'm particularly keen to hear about with his recovery is Jack Grimes. Can anyone shed light on his progress??

Good luck to young James.

Whether he was to or will ever become a great player remains to be seen, but he was just starting to make real headway.

He's progressing well and is on track to be injured again by round 6, 2012.

I lol'd. Unbelievable that some want him to be captain - I'd start with "regular player" myself.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
