It's also been said that the Dees being successful in luring Clark to the club has made Jim ecstatic. This can only be a good thing and shouldn't be underestimated, because a little joy for Jim at this current time, means a very big deal to everyone that loves the MFC.

I don't think he will kick a heap of goals and be the messiah for the club, but he will form an important part of the game plan and structures for the side. Makes a huge difference having a 200cm 100kg+ person in the forward line, and this will show next year.

Possibly the most excited I've been in my entire life.

Neeld, then Misson, Sylvia then re-signed, then Craig!, Rawlings, Leigh Brown, then Green re-signed, and now MITCH CLARK! - a certainty to head to Freo, yet we managed to land him with only pick 12. Even Brock McLean attracted pick 11. I hope they target Caddy for next year.

The momentum we're building is simply outrageous. My sights are now firmly set on the 8 next year - I, for one, will be very disappointed with anything less.

Good onya Cameron, Tim H, Jimmy, Don McL and others. Top, top work.

Just been analysing the merits of getting Clark and looking at the value he presents. I have no doubts we have paid overs for him but would have had to pay plenty more if indeed we had of gained Brown a couple of years ago for a million a year per our then CEO- Paul McNamee.and Brown can't stay on the park due to consistant injuries.. Any other elite players we would have had to pay a lot more for.As Mike Sheahan said today- he is a gamble but worth it. Pick 12 in this draft was worthwhile but again it is up to Clark to prove his worth. We have given him a great opportunity. It is up to him now.A four year contract is really what we required. It is your birthday tomorrow -Mitch ,I just hope you give us a happy return for our investment. Go to it- Wonder boy.

On the trade itself, quite interesting to get the Brisbane summary.. http://www.lions.com...57/default.aspx (scroll down a little to: 'The Mitch Clark trade')

Great get, Trident.

Fascinating stuff. Freo were deserate to land him as they kept falling over and offering more to Brisbane and obviously the Lions were not happy that Freo were trying to stiff them from the beginning.

Never say 'Check, mate' Freo.

Because you don't know who you're playing with...

Just had a quick geeze at the freofanatics site and they are not happy.

This from one poster after EQ tweeted that the Dorkers had not made any friends during trade week.

"Emma Quayle is an egg, Clarke is an egg and the Melbourne footy club are scrambled eggs.

Would have been happy to get him but not on his inflated salary and not with our priority picks.

Im glad its over...

Im also glad conoly and shwab are stuffing up Melbournes future and not ours."

Really looking forward to Mitch kicking a bag against these clowns next year.

Heh, yes, thank heavens "conoly" and "shwab" are stuffing up our futures. Our future looks completely and utterly screwed, right guys?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
