Tom Scully in September ...

Grandson of a gun

Recommended Posts

I can feel the leather boot coming again, and why not, we just lost watsisname(good luck up there), now all the innuendo about why we lost him and who's, or our professionalism (culture) to blame.............sticking a big leatherbound book down the back a my pants.........beware some of the sh...t will hurt when it's the truth I fear

If that's how you feel?

How do you think Demon players feel?

All of them coverd for tom and this is how he repay them?

What worries me is all this talk about how Melbourne aren't very professional and Scully wasn't happy.

You know...I can think of about 6 Million reasons why his judgement might have been clouded.

He lied to us Clint. I dont particularly place any credeence in anything the fella has to say.

Go Dees

For those that are still trying to bait me and a few others: I don't feel the need to walk back from anything I have said.

And you are betraying your sensibilities and your character by doing this 'flamethrowing.'

I am moving on to our new coach, our restructured FD, our work in trade week, and our players.

Not former players.

Yes Range Rover, you were right. Most of us knew it was coming, some held out hope that he would stay. No need to go on and on about it.

This is a painful day, and it will be more painful in a few years time when Tom is tearing it apart. He will be a great player, but unfortunately, not outs. We have a great young list anyway, with players that are loyal and love the club. 2012 is our year to make a statement.

Hey Rpfc ... how's the serenity?

You won't get the double meaning of that unless you've seen The Castle.

In fact .... nah even then you probably won't get it.

lol

This is ironic because my references to "why would anyone want to leave Serenity" is from somewhere else.

But I am glad you're not a fan of Joss Whedon's stuff.

Oh, and I stand by that statement - Jack Trengove is happy to stay on board, Jack Watts too, Sam Blease, Colin Sylvia.

Why would anyone want to leave Serenity?

Still...can't think of a reason.

I just cannot work out why the MFC have not come out on the front foot...Why should MY club KowTow to a GWS Press Conference.

What is the MFC? If they knew anything about this signing why didn't they make noise to the Members????

Not Happy Jan.

Paid up for 2012 btw.

Don't give the story any oxygen. This is now irrelevant to us and the club has bigger fish to fry - new coach etc.

Scully can wander off to the oblivion that awaits him

I signed up for 2012 also.

Again, being blind to reality through parochialism does not make you 'more of a supporter'.

Only an ignorant one. And an arrogant one.

The truth hurts. Hopefully our club can come out the better for it.

That is well and good... however, like I said, you getting self-gratification from the way this has turned out is bloody low. Why get stuck into a Rpfc for choosing to believe what Scully has said for the last 6mths? All that Rpfc is guilty of (in my opinion) is a love for this club and choosing to believe that no-one would want to leave our club?

Your gloating and crap is absolutely childish. Get over yourself!

RR, in honour of your uncanny ability to see and correctly predict future events in the face of the massive odds that were stacked against you (50-50), and to reflect the good grace and humility with which you have carried yourself while denegrating fellow supporters feeling the pain of TS's departure, I hereby pronounce you, and hitherto to be known as, "Nostradumbass".

Now arise (and go forth and multiply)!

In his presser he said he contacted MFC including Viney, Lyon (i think) and others. He did not mention that he spoke with Stynes.

Surely he would have but then again based on the events of the past couple of days you never know!!

The did steal their thunder. Melbourne Tweeted about it this morning before the presser. Did you want them to hold their own rival press conference at the same time or something?

As for Tom, I like many on here gave him the benefit of the doubt, and am sad to have been proven wrong. Sorry to say I can't really wish him the best up there because doing so is also wishing success to GWS, and I have maintained that it is a farce and doomed to failure and a parasitic existence sucking money out of the AFL (and the clubs') coffers while drawing sub 20,000 crowds. Sorry Tom. At least you're getting paid lots.

Why Clint ya ask Jim to shove it up hi....................?

No, I just find it interesting that if his contract is currently still with Melbourne that he can appear in opposition colours and with opposition sponsors. I realise he is not the first to do this, but it's interesting none the less.

So is Tom going to clear out his locker, or has that already been done?

Or is he going to get someone else to do it?

I think they have oganised for him to pick up his ashes out the front of AAMI with all players in attendance!!!!!!

MELBOURNE Football Club can confirm that Tom Scully informed the club earlier on Monday of his intentions to sign with Greater Western Sydney.

The club will hold a media conference on Monday at 2pm, with Melbourne chief executive Cameron Schwab and vice-president Don McLardy.

I think you may safely claim the dumbass title. All yours. Maybe RR is the Notsodumbass !!

Whilst you seem to not add a lot to content other than snide and purile ramblings RR had the wherewithall and fortitude to back his stance with honesty. And he paid a price for it. I dare say he wasnt attempting to predict teh future he was , like others , simply observing the present and commenting upon it.

Some of us actually feel no pian in his departure ( TS ) for we didnt grant a lot of value in his staying or even whilst he was here. Terribly over hyped and rated..

From here on end I proclaim Jack Trengove as the true and rightful #1 pick.

Well done MFC...time to organise our spoils B)

The last part re Trengove, I agree with.

The first part, I suggest you go back through the (multiple) Scully threads and read what I have contributed. Like yourself, I no doubt tended to some repetition, but essentially my contributions were based on the "innocent until proven guilty" premise; and I think you might find that I was not the one banned for insinuating that Scully was a liar but not being forthright enough to come out and say it in so many words.

However, you will find that my "snide and purile ramblings" (a description I am more than happy to accept) have only appeared in retaliation to RR's equally purile and self-centred boastings and derision of those who were prepared to take Scully at his word.

It costs me nothing to believe that it wasn't a done deal until the end of season - ( howl me down all and sundry) BUT please.........

"I dont play football for money"

Be a man like Ward who said that money was a major factor in his decision. $6M over 6 years is huge - grow some and say. "Happy to be in Sydney - the offer was enormous and too good to pass up and has set me up for life"

"I dont play football for money" - ummm yeah you do.. ( not that there's anything wrong with that - just man up and say it !).

We as supporters are 100% emotional - we PAY to go watch our team. Players are PAID to play the game - it is their profession. Now some more than others base their decisions on the emotion of the dream of playing finals and premierships which you cannot place a dollar figure on whilst others draw the line at what the game can pay them. Again Tom, no problem with you going for the big money - all you have to do is say the four words - "I went for money"

I hope Tom was honest to Garry about what he thought was wrong at melbourne Dean Bailey apparently said on friday night on SEN Tom went to him a few times about issues. If there are issues and it looks like they are then they must be dealt with. We need to start fresh next season and maybe some people ned to go and not have a boys club mentality.

Also what did happen in China last season. Did Scully really get vomitted on and did the players just treat it as a end of season trip.

ANyway for those interested Tom will be on SEN ont he rum home after 4. I hope OX asks some hard questions.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
