Tom Scully in September ...

Grandson of a gun

Recommended Posts

All that aside, I truly hope that all Demon supporters are above 'booing' Tom when we play GWS.

If we were as professional as a club such as the Pies, both on-field and off-field, I doubt he would have left. If the truth be known, we're probably as close to a flag as GWS is.

Don't know what happened to my previous response but if you believe this you are a [censored].

And I will boo Tom for treating my club as a practice club. I blame the AFL for his defection, I blame him for [censored] around with us!

And I'mn sick of hearing this wouldn't happen to a "stronger" club.

Oh we'll see next year with the Dons and Hurley!! Alright?

Looks like Richmond weren't the big danger after all. ;-)

Not that it makes any practical difference - but I still believe he postponed his decision until the end of the season for the reasons I've already posted. Heading up to Sydney with his family was a very strong indicator of his intentions but he didn't want to make an announcement at the airport - GWS want to have their press conference. "Lying" there doesn't indicate a trend to me.

I'm very unhappy that he's gone and would have much preferred that he stay - I was very excited when we drafted him. It was always likely that he'd go - if it's $6M over 6 years vs say $3M over 5 years what do you expect? MFC hasn't been in a pristine state this year so clearly that hasn't helped our case either, but it's about the money mainly I reckon. I don't blame him for going and I don't see how he could have handled it any other way. But as a parochial MFC supporter I'll love to hate him in future.

Hopefully we can get some reasonable compensation and somehow convert that into a star. We've avoided some salary inflation and they can't take anyone else off us.

And nothing would be sweeter than a year of Pies woes with constant Pendlebury speculation.

So anyone else still believe this mercenary is a kid with integrity and good character? The little [censored] has lied to our faces all year culminating in his "just going up to have a look around" comments yesterday. I can see now why Sheedy rates him so highly he is a man after his own heart.

Just got in to Hong Kong and saw the news on here, I agree absolutely that he has lied to us all year and he was gone in October it's all be a charade to try and retain some semblance of credibility for him.

At last we can call a spade a spade he was lying pure and simple and if any still believe it was a last minute decision they are naive in the extreme.

BOOOOOYAH.

And next time The Ox goes to air with a call like that, take it the bank boys.

Take it to the bank ... just like our boy Tom did.

CAAAAARNA DEEEEES!!!! B)

I will cite Sloonie's post from your self promoting twaddle RR:

I gave it to Schwarz on Twitter about this, but he was right. Good on him. Would have been better if he could have said 100 percent, but oh well.

And RR you are such a [censored]. You are filled with joy over this aren't you, admit it??? Sully leaving vindicates you, and you can't wait to stick the boots into someone for wanting to believe in loyalty, and someone who was a Dee.

Rpfc is this sites best poster. You are the sanctimonious germ!!!

To which my response was going to be (it was rightfully locked before I could finish posting):

It was a 50/50 bet and Schwarz managed to come up smelling of roses.

As for the rest of your post... +1 Agree completely. Give it a rest RR!

That's all done now. Time to move on. Big compo or riot! sick of this [censored]!

Looking at this from another perspective, if Channel 7 is required to show a GWS game on a Friday night, perhaps Melb v GWS will be the game they'll pick. On the same logic, of course, they could pick GWS v Bulldogs/Fremantle/Adelaide, but you'd think from Channel 7's point of view the Scully factor would provide a better marketing opportunity than any of Ward/Palmer/Davis. Of course, GWS may still poach a bigger scalp (Goddard, perhaps?) but in the meantime, if I were Channel 7 and had to have a GWS game on Friday night, this is the one - and probably the only one - I'd choose.

Not even a wittle bit of cwedit for the old Rangey?

Oooooohhh diddums

Credit for what? When I was 15 years old I guessed that man would eventually walk on the moon's surface... I was so disappointed when NASA never recognised that fact!

As Sloonie said... no decent supporter would feed their ego by preying on the misery of fellow supporters. You really are a drop kick RR; and like the drop kick, perhaps you should be phased out as well?

Yeah you're a 'real supporter' as opposed to those of us with our eyes actually open.

Hahaha. Do know that I am laughing at every single post on here with almighty gaffaws.

An entire season I've had to read the 'Scully is Superman' tripe'.

I'll allow myself a couple of light hearted indulgences.

Maybe more than a couple.

Where are the apologies for Schwarz and the journos who nailed it?

Huh? Come Rpfc ... let's hear it!

Damn. You are a sad individual.

OMG RR you were right, you are fantastic! congratulations!!!

Hopefully that fuels your ego for the next 12 months, now go and crawl back into the hole you came out of.

Credit for guessing Scully would take a once in a lifetime financial opportunity?

Quoting gut feelings, and confidants that he was 70-30 chance of going deserves praise?

Your response to this news with a BOOYAH is sad. Although you post a lot, you add no value to this forum.

I don't blame Scully for taking the money. Once the story broke early in the year, there was never going to be a good time to announce he was leaving no matter when he actually made his mind up. It's extremely disappointing non the less

Hey Bezelbub ... did you hear, he was just going up for a look around

Yeah just goin' to have a look around...

EDIT: I can understand RR's response, after most of the regulars on here have bagged him all year for saying what he though and what turned out to be correct. However I also agree we need solidarity at this point and not fracturing of the supporter base over this mercenary who has made the club look foolish all year. Some payback is expected but if I were RR I would put a lid on it after all none of us are pleased at what has gone down, even those of us who may have seen it coming all year.

Just hope America De Cali doesn't remember his password or we may be subjected to pages and pages of ostrich bums (or is this RR's other username?)

You are not a supporter and I doubt you even go to the games. I think your only on this site because you have no real life mates. Anyone who really does love this club has a hollow feeling today, yet you are happy we lost a gun player just so you can feed your own ego.

You claim to drive a Range Rover but you quite clearly have no class.

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
